I am totally in. Love steamy detective stories with that 1930's/1940's sensibility and this has the making of a good one. I easily count Chinatown, The Maltese Falcon, The Big Sleep as among my favorite films ever made.

Neeson could be good as Marlowe and has the ability to project that war weary, worn feel of the Marlowe character. He has a lot to live up to, filling the shoes of the likes of Bogart, Elliot Gould (in The Long Goodbye), and Mitchum (most certainly in Farewell My Lovely but while Mitchum himself was good in his misfired remake of The Big Sleep, the film itself was not). Although not as effective in the role as the previously mentioned actors, James Garner still managed to bring some of that persona to his 1967 version of the role. Neeson has the chops to do it.

Not sure I get the casting, either, especially since heís gone all-in on the action persona. Too physically imposing for Marlowe. Altmanís revisionism understood this which is why Gould was a perfect choice. Also dubious of this being sold as a Chandler story since itís a book written by some other guy in 2014. Anybody read it to know how it compares to Chandlerís novels?

This looks interesting. Don't see too many detective movies being made. I basically only started watching Liam Neeson action flicks this year, so it'll be interesting to compare this to his other two movies from this year.

Yeah, this will hopefully be good.

Memory, literally only 1 minute of action in that two hour story. Not great.
Blacklight, was interesting and a bit more entertaining despite its flaws.

Liam Neeson is a work-aholic actor.

I don't know about those shots of Neeson bustin' heads Taken style, but overall this looks great. Looking forward to checking it out.

Neeson pretty much playing to type but looks like a fun noir caper.

nice to see danny huston, hes a very underrated actor.

the action sequences look completely out of place and I'm not sure the noirish component is emphasized enough. Noir is slower, more plot driven, more atmospheric than what it insinuates in this trailer, though its only a trailer, perhaps it'll be a noir, or neo noir (big discussion about this in other thread, not worthy of repeating it)

Always up for a new Neeson flick, and with Neil Jordan behind the camera, it seems like it'll be a bit more tony than his typical beat-'em-up. Great supporting cast, too. Seems like the kind of movie to get my dad interested.

It looks better than the last 5 Liam Neeson movies put together.

I suspect theyíre playing up some of the action stuff in order to appeal to a wider audience and, yes, itís great seeing Danny Huston considering his familyís connection to this type of film.

Looks great & I love me some detective noir, though for a quintessentially American tale it seems to have a very European cast, & Neeson doesn't sound like he's even trying an accent.

I had to laugh at the credits block at the end of the trailer with no less than 32 producers listed. What is it they say about too many cooks? & I know it's probably contractual, but shouldn't there be a limit to the number that need to be mentioned in a trailer (& indeed on the poster)?

They're mostly executive producers. And the reason there's so much of them is that often indie productions tend to be financed through a number of investors, who are credited as... you name it... executive producers.

Just look at how many companies it took to get this movie made.
