Quote:
“F9: The Fast Saga” and “Kin” scribe Daniel Casey has reportedly been hired to write the feature adaptation of the 1978 Japanese anime series “Battle of the Planets” for AGBO.

Casey will work with AGBO founders and “Avengers: Endgame” directors Joe and Anthony Russo, and original anime series creators Tatsunoko, to explore and expand the IP in-depth.

The plan is to construct the foundation for a screen universe and this feature screenplay will serve as the launchpad for a potential major franchise across multiple forms of media.

I wish they'd stay far far away from anime

I don't know about anyone else I like anime because it's animation and NOT live action. Though lately with all the CG I guess the lines are blurring. (Probably why I prefer old Hollywood movies).

There's also G-Saviour, which wasn't Hollywood, but was it was made by a western company. And of course the upcoming Legendary Pictures Gundam movie.

Blood: The Last Vampire; (2009)

No, it wasn't great by any means but I still enjoyed most of it.
The Yank girl's non-stop screaming wore thin quickly though.

G-Saviour was a Canadian production. I did update the main page though to include the Legendary/Netflix Gundam film. As for the live-action adaptation of Blood: The Last Vampire, it is a Chinese/French co-production. I'm mostly focusing on cataloging past and future American productions.

Not a movie but Netflix has a Live Action Cowboy Bebop series in the works.

There is also Detective Pikachu. Technically more of a Live Action based off a videogame, but could also count it as a Live-Action Pokémon movie.

Edge Of Tomorrow. Based off a Japanese Manga.

Consider a cancelled category, with Evangelion Live Action as ADV wanted to.

Had no idea that Old Boy was based on a manga.

I was also going to suggest Crying Freeman, but it's a French-Canadian co-production, so it doesn't meet gloomranger's guidelines for his list.

It's a South African production so it doesn't meet the "Hollywood" criteria.

Things are still moving on “Akira” he (Taika Waititi) says and he is “still trying [to make it]. I don’t wanna give up on that.”
