They mentioned in the Q&A that it’s in licensing hell. If you’re curious to see it, there’s a copy on YouTube taped from Sci-Fi Channel in 1997, complete with commercials.

Any word on a project a-ko blu ray box set also does it make difference that 2 3 and 4 were 2k scans unlike the original project a-ko?

If they no longer exist who owns it currently not that they are sought after just wondering.

Man what id give for Dominion Tank Police and Roujin Z to get discotek releases. I know the latter had a bluray out somewhere so the rights can’t be that much of a mess.

Anywho, now that all 4 movies will be out soon I’m hoping this means the 4k mastered version of Ako 1 will get a UHD release. I’ll very happily double dip like I did with Robot Carnival

Sevakis confirmed on this forum that the original Dominion Tank Police OVAs are in licensing hell due to Toshiba basically losing (or forgetting) any record of them having involvement in the show's production/licensing after they bowed out of the anime business, despite them being listed in the credits. When crap like that happens, the chances for a proper re-release are screwed.

Hey, so I've actually had this for a while and have been meaning to pop it in and finally watch it. My only question is, should I watch it in 4:3 or 16:9?

16x9 first, as frames in the storyboards, and shots are generally framed to benefit from it.

lmao this was nuts, didn't expect B-ko to go out like that. I dont get the ako VS hate. yea they're different characters but its a nice alternative and I honestly prefer this over the 4th ova. Really wish it was able to get licensed by discotek with the rest of the series.

I'm going to go against the previous poster and say Project A-ko is better in 4:3. A lot of visual gags are cut off in 16:9. If this were an action movie or drama I wouldn't be as picky about it, but imo Project A-Ko is an animator's film and the more you see, the better. They may have storyboarded for 16:9 but Project A-Ko's production was unique in that it was truly chaotic and the contribution of many talented hands rather than a singular vision. Imagine a comic jam where 10 artists contributed to one comic but only 5 of the contributors were actually shown. That's kinda how I feel about Project A-ko in 16:9
