Nope - please dont let Disney buy anything more at all. They're good. They've swallowed up enough content & IPs to last a lifetime. Time for them to make GOOD content and use what they have. They've mostly butchered star wars from an episodic movie perspective but in fairness they have have done some very good TV shows. They need to stick to solid family entertainment(animated and live action) & good Star Wars TV shows. Stay away from fringe or edge-case crap and they'll be fine. I just dont want or need them in charge of more IPs and classic content. No thanks. Im scared of what they might have in store for some of the FOX IPs. Like The Alien franchise..... oh boy..... ![]() Please no, LOL. Lee is the Disney guy around here. Losses are somehow profits. They make up for it in volume like that old Saturday Night Live skit about the change bank. Remember that? ![]() |

In the end who really cares? they'll survive and who is thinking about who is running Disney while at Disney Land/World. Chapek is merely a scapegoat (an unpopular one at that, because of not being very PR savvy), who was implementing many things already in the works before Iger left in 2020. They'll never pass on savings to the consumer. Prices have always gone up and will continue to rise year after year.

Not to defend his actions, but I'm afraid Eisner was gonna happen one way or another. Ron Miller wanted him at Disney after their two collaborations with Paramount, but only to run the studio and not the parks. Roy let him have the whole thing. It seemed like a good idea at the time. There's another book called Storming the Magic Kingdom by John Taylor about the attempted Saul Steinberg takeover that ends on a triumphalist note for the Eisner/Katzenberg/Wells regime even because it was published in 1987 after Touchstone had had some hits but before the animation department started raking in cash and Oscars again. I also recommend The Keys to the Kingdom by Kim Masters, a book critical of Eisner that still managed to get published in the late 1990s while he still had control over the company because his bridge-burnings with Katzenberg (and later with Michael Ovitz) had become public and tarnished his erstwhile reputation as the savior of Disney. Even if Miller had stayed at Disney longer than he did, and there were positive signs of change already in progress when Saul Steinberg derailed what was already likely his last chance to course-correct, he, too would likely have clashed with Eisner just as Roy eventually did. But in the moment, it really was magical seeing Disney spring back to life, especially if you were a child back then like I was. That things would go south so dramatically was unexpected. Perhaps this is why Frozen-era Disney has gotten so hooked on all these twist villains and still can't "let it go;" the "it" they are trying to let go is all the hurt feelings over the end of Disney animation the way Walt Disney made it. ![]() Quite frankly, It would have been nice to have seen the sequels made without her influence at all. Oh well. Missed opportunity. |

Besides, it's not the same job. Without Kathy Kennedy making them busier than ever then Dave Filoni would have moved on from Star Wars long ago (to be honest, after seventeen years working only at Lucasfilm he probably should do), and Jon Favreau is by his own admission happiest when he's just goofing around in the kitchen doing those Chef specials for Netlix. |

It'd be nice if he talked about improving the quality of content, scaling back quantity. Marvel and Lucasfilm have run amok with assembly line product with a development room full of hacktivists fresh out of college with a poli-psy degree. Also his idea that Disney movies(or movies in general) changed the world is laughable. Disney movies entertained the world that's it. They helped make us deal with our daily life in the real world with wholesome escapism. They didn't solve world hunger, end global conflicts, no more than Rocky single-handedly ending the cold war with a boxing match. The problem with Disney is their lack of humility and goodwill which just a little of that goes a long way with audiences. Give us enjoyment, not sermons and ultimatum on Twitter. If Iger were smart, he'd be trying to make amends with the movie going public after the last few years of Disney riding a PR high horse talking down to audiences, painting them with a broad brush. |

Is Chapek still fired? Any updates to this “breaking” (i.e. still developing) news report?

Might as well fire Kevin Feige for Iron Man 2 or Thor The Dark World, the only outright bad movie she produced is epIX, with Solo being borderline and epVIII depends on taste. It's just that she became the scapegoat for everyone that hates new Star Wars, same as George Lucas was during the prequel era. |

The comparison to Feige is, frankly, insulting. Say what you want about the MCU, and I'm not a fan of them, but Feige clearly had vision. Creating a series of interlinked films that make up a cinematic 'universe' was his idea and he's the only one to successfully implement it. Other studios, Warner Bros, Universal have all tried it and have all failed. Feige has had some missteps but he's also had some serious, unqualified successes Kennedy, on the other hand, has no ideas, has no vision, defended her lack of ideas and vision by saying stupid shit like 'Well, there's no books to base these things off of'. The only unqualified success of Lucasfilm in the Disney era has been The Mandalorian and even that has been diluted by successive, poor quality, Star Wars TV shows Now granted, it's not entirely Kennedy's fault, Bob Iger's the one who wanted a Star Wars film every other year. But it is mostly Kennedy's fault. |
