And they really need to invite Betty Ting Pei to the party. After all, she made her own Bruce biopic. |

I honestly thought after his 2013 The Grandmaster, Wong Ka Wai would be the one to direct another Bruce Lee movie. Still, Ang Lee is a great choice to be named director for this project.
EDIT: One more thing. To make this film feel authentic, part of the film must be in Cantonese. Last edited by Azyiu; 12-01-2022 at 10:40 AM. |

And what truth is that? Isn't a lot of Bruce lore just hearsay? We've had plenty of movies cover the basics of when he started teaching, made certain movies, etc. What more is there to tell that is verifiable truth, and not urban legends? |

A movie about Bruce Li (James Ho) would be good. He has an interesting background story with some drama involved (his wife died at an early age) and his struggles to be billed under his real name.
Another great choice would be the Jimmy Wang Yu bio-pic. Now THAT is a story waiting to be told! ![]() |

I think WKW would really go deep into Lee's philosophy, but perhaps too arty for the general public (Donnie Yens Ip Man being much more popular in the U.S *blowing up after 2*) It will be interesting comparing it to Dragon, and see if Yip Man is much more involved in this. |

I like how the ending of BRUCE LEE: THE TRUE STORY (released in the US and UK as BRUCE LEE: THE MAN, THE MYTH), presents 4 different versions of his death, though the affair with Betty Ting Pei was removed for Western versions, leaving the version where they are just good friends.

A long time fan of Bruce Lee, and he's had a lot of entertaining imitators back in the 1970s, 1980s. Return of the Dragon is my favorite Bruce Lee movie. Where he's visiting his uncle at the restaurant, and then the Mafia shows up and wants a cut of his business. Bruce Lee stands up for them, but to what results? Good movie.
While I prefer a documentary, I'll be interested to see who they cast as Bruce Lee and if the movie is decent or not. Ang Lee has a good track record with his stories and films, so hopefully that's a good sign. I've seen 1993's Dragon: A Bruce Lee Story in theaters and was underwhelmed. The actor did his best, but he didn't look at all like Bruce Lee IMO, who was one of a kind. I haven't seen it again since 1993. Domestic (55.3%) $35,113,743 International (44.7%) $28,400,000 Worldwide $63,513,743 Ang Lee, hopefully he'll try to make it based on facts and firsthand details. As far as Bruce Lee's death, it's said he suffered from heat stroke and a brain fluid issue that led to his death at 32 years of age in 1973. I wonder if during some fights, his head was impacted too much, and led to dangerous swelling of the brain, as he had a bad headache shortly before he died that day. I hope the movie tries to cover that and doesn't just end on the funeral, but shows some of the findings. Then again, that's what a documentary is better suited for. At 32, he was just getting started with movies. But has inspired quite a lot of films since. |

They won't let Bruce die. He would be 82 now if he had lived. I'd actually prefer to see a fictional movie where he never really died and is an old man today teaching a new protege.

Something like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood? I am not sure if I would like to see a project as such though, but it is just me.
