Australia David Cronenberg Triple (Rabid/Shivers/The Dead Zone) 04/05/2016

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/blu-ray/dav...one/dp/6172973

A little concerned about Shivers, given the fiasco with the cut print issued by Arrow a couple of years back. Hopefully this is the full version.

Given The Dead Zone is in there, I assume Via Vision.

You are correct sir,

Barcode: 9337369008806
Catalogue Number: VVE880

This fantastic boxset includes 3 iconic films from master horror director David Cronenberg. Pushing the boundaries of horror from the outset David Cronenberg's films has produced some of the most frightening yet memorable films of all time. Presented in a limited edition boxset this collection finally brings together 3 of his most memorable films Shivers, Rabid & The Dead Zone.

Shivers - 1975
When Rose (Marilyn Chambers) is involved in a motorcycle crash in a remote spot she is taken to a local research centre where she receives emergency treatment. Rose survives, but with an unexpected addition - she is now carrying a new strain of rabies, which she propagates using a murderous addendum, that pops out from her armpit when sexually aroused, to impregnate her victims. Director David Cronenberg orchestrates the rising panic in low-budget style, as a whole Canadian city is devastated.

Rabid 1977
Marilyn Chambers, Frank Moore, Joe Silver, Howard Ryshpan, and Patricia Gage star in David Cronenberg's classic thriller about a young woman who develops a taste for human blood after undergoing experimental plastic surgery. Her victims turn into rabid, blood-thirsty zombies who proceed to infect others, and the epidemic spreads city-wide.

The Dead Zone 1983
David Cronenberg's adaptation of the Stephen King novel. Johnny Smith (Christopher Walken) is a school teacher who, after surviving a terrible road accident, emerges from a five-year coma cursed with psychic powers which enable him to see into the future. When he then meets Presidential candidate Greg Stillson (Martin Sheen), Johnny has a vision of the apocalyptic disasters which would befall the world if this man should ever win office, and realises that it is his destiny to prevent such a thing from ever happening.

Special Features:
-Shivers
"On Screen!: The Making of Shivers"" vintage television programme interviewing David Cronenberg, co-producer Don Carmody, as well as the cast and crew
-Theatrical trailer
-Rabid
Audio commentary with director David Cronenberg
‘The Directors – David Cronenberg’
Interviews : David Cronenberg

First Time Shivers and Rabid have been released on DVD or Blu-ray in Australia / NZ.

Arrow currently no longer have Shivers available to order from their webstore, which should mean that they are ready to issue/replace the uncut version soon. And hopefully, Via Vision put the same uncut one out when they release theirs.

Fingers crossed. I love Shivers, it's possibly Cronenberg's best early feature (though The Brood is excellent too).

Looks like the same bare-bones release of The Dead Zone as before, which is a bit of a pity.

I've never seen "Shivers," but going by the above description, it sounds very similar to "Rabid."

It's been quite a while since I saw Shivers, but I remember it being more fun than Rabid, which I feel drags quite a bit.

The Directors: David Cronenberg - a wonderful documentary focusing on the acclaimed director's body of work, unique style, and work ethic. The documentary features interviews with Brooke Adams, Marilyn Chambers, Willem Dafoe, Deborah Harry, Holly Hunter, Michael Ironside, Jenifer Jason Leigh, Peter Weller, and Anthony Zerbe. The documentary also appears on Australian distributors Umbrella Entertainment's Blu-ray release of Scanners.

I don't have any of these titles, so might pick it up if it hits our shores.

They've made an error with their description, that's why They've basically used another description for Rabid and added it under the Shivers title.

Marilyn Chambers is not in Shivers.

I can't believe nobody spotted that

No point in grabbing Shivers if it is Ceonenberg's revisionist, bullshit, TIFF-trimmed cut.

Caustic, see my post above. Hopefully not as it looks like the unrated footage is finally restored
