By now I am sure most know that he stopped making these books about five years ago as of this typing. I have the 2015 edition with the farewell speech at the beginning. It's somewhat hard to justify buying those books every year when 99.9% of the content is going to be the same as the year prior. What would've been great is if he couldve released a thin pamphlet each year with the 300 or so new movies in it
I dont believe that printed media is dead despite IMDB and bluray.com existing. I just think that he didnt know how to evolve the format into something people would seperate themselves from their money for. I tried going on leonardmaltin.com and I really just prefer the quick nitty gritty format that the book provided- year, country, runtime, availability, actors, director, and a 2-4 sentence review, with star ratings Its a lot quicker to get info from the book than navigating to Wiki or IMDB. and those sites arent always reliable. at least with the LM book, you could trust the information |
