Oh nice, Hidive got Spy Classroom? I'm really looking forward to that, this should be an easy adaptation from the Light Novel source, considering there's not that much world building or lore, just non-stop action.

Stilk find it funny My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog is being animated, going by the trailer it looks to be a straight adaptation of the manga, which if true, means Right Stuf won't be carrying the Blu-ray.

GKIDS Licenses Giovanni's Island Anime Film

GKIDS announced at its panel at Anime NYC on Saturday that it has licensed Production I.G's Giovanni's Island anime film for North America. The company will release the film "on home entertainment platforms" this year.

That was a good movie. I picked up the Anime Limited Ultimate Edition back in 2015. There are even a few references made to Night on the Galactic Railroad in the movie.

Looks like RS has Banished From the Hero's Party I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside LE in stock. Haven't gotten a charge for it yet though it looks like.
They do not have Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation Season 1 Part 1 LE though oddly enough even though that one comes out on 12/06 versus Banished at 12/13.

Thank fully My Hero Academia Season 5 Part 2 LE dated for 12/20 is not in stock lol.

That one looks like it could be interesting, brings back some memories. When I was in college at Penn State back in the early 1980's, there was a glider hotspot just on the other side of one of the mountain ridges north of the school. You could sit there and watch a half-dozen gliders in the air at one time, catching thermals off the mountain ridges, being towed up into the air by small planes, and crashing and burning into the valley below... (Just kidding on that last part, lol).

Crunchyroll: Some Home Video Releases May Be Unavailable While SKUs Refresh

Crunchyroll: "There are current Funimation SKUs that will be retired and replaced with new SKUs"

Crunchyroll revealed to ANN on Monday that some stock keeping units (SKUs) for home video releases from Funimation will be retired and replaced with new SKUs. Subsequently, there may be a period of time when select titles are unavailable on home video.

Crunchyroll provided a comment to ANN:

There are current Funimation SKUs that will be retired and replaced with new SKUs as we continue to unify our home entertainment offerings through Crunchyroll. There may be a period of time when select titles will be unavailable before the SKUs refresh and are back in stock for fans to purchase.

The company did not specify which titles this applies to, or what the timelines for the SKUs are.

Crunchyroll announced in March that it would no longer offer free ad-supported viewing starting with its spring 2022 season line-up. Crunchyroll will instead require that viewers have a subscription to access new and continuing simulcasts. The company added that the first three episodes of each title will be available for ad-supported viewing for a week after their premiere on Crunchyroll until a certain point, and subsequent episodes will be limited to subscribers. Crunchyroll confirmed that with continuing anime, ad-supported viewing will not be available with episodes starting with the spring season, but episodes prior to the spring season will be available. The company updated its statement in September that "AVOD content will rotate and refresh regularly."

Funimation and Crunchyroll announced on March 1 that that Funimation and Wakanim's anime library and simulcast content have moved to Crunchyroll. Sony's Funimation Global Group completed its acquisition of Crunchyroll from AT&T on August 9 last year. The purchase price was US$1.175 billion, and the proceeds were paid in cash at closing.

I'll take this as "If it's got the FUNimation logo on it, it's OOP, even the May 2022 releases, and not everything with said logo will get re-released."

[Edit]We can probably look forward to something similar regarding RightStuf releases in the future, so assume all those will be OOP in the near future, and most won't get re-released given how little Crunchyroll cares about rather old titles. Gundam will be a big question mark because Sunrise holds the license, RightStuf is just the distributor.

A reminder, Critical Mass Video is now owned by Adult Source Media, so you won't have to worry as much there, but ASM uses DVD-Rs and BD-Rs, so keep that in mind. There are no reports yet of CMV reprints not using pressed discs.

yeah, I'm pretty much all caught up with older anime releases I've wanted to get, whether they be Funimation or otherwise - I'm just mainly buying new anime releases now.

Looking at the stuff I did keep up with on my list. I’m pretty much caught up. A few releases I know one of the disc had something not 100% right I’ve been buying new editions. Looking at old post here and other places I’m caught up on things I wanted from Funimation.

The thing going on with AMC worries me a little. Hopefully Sentai/Hidive does not suffer any from it. Also hopefully the next CEO is an anime and physical media fan. A lot of stuff I doubt any other company would pick up even if it’s popular that Sentai would.

All of these companies still expecting and banking on the pandemic level numbers from streaming. Then for some reason thinking they lost something they really never had. They need to take their expectations back to 3 years ago.
