Default Netflix & Anime Blu-ray Releases

Anyone else notice that netflix doesn't seem to care about anime Blu-ray releases? I've been waiting for a couple series that have been out some time now and they just aren't there.

Dragon Ball Z: Broly Triple Feature (Rest of the movies are on there)
Claymore
Basilisk
Samurai Champloo
Evangelion 1.11 (Not out, but will be soon. No "Save" option, it's just not there!)
Eureka Seven: Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers (Only a DVD option to "Save")

Some of them don't even exist on the site, and the ones that do are only DVD with blu-ray set to "unknown".

Not only this but there are many series that have "missing" discs, and it seems like they never attempt to restock their anime.

They don't have the knowledge to know that it will be in high demand. Your local netflix will probably get 2 discs, and it'll sit on very long wait for half a year.

That is... when they finally decide to add it to their site.

Too bad there isn't another company that specializes in Anime or foreign (region free) films in Blu-ray. The market for this is probably too small to be profitable.

Actually, it's a combination of factors:
They didn't bother to stock much anime from '99-'02, back when they were having their expansionist teething troubles...
Also, much of the anime comes from smaller companies, which, like ADV titles, have a tendency to go out of print.

It's a thankless job, and they've managed to fill in much of their gaps, but even anime buyers know enough to grab a title before it disappears out of print next week.

There is another possibility: the titleholders in the U.S. are not making those discs available for rental for a time (yes, months on end would not surprise me) to allow their for-sale stock to go through.

I'd want to talk to someone at FUNi to see if that's the case for them, for instance, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was a big reason.

I don't understand why Netflix does not setup deals to stream Anime series that can be seen for free on sites like Crunchy Roll and Hulu. They wouldn't have to have discs in stock and they would be able to serve their customers demand for anime. Netflix really has all the tools it needs to be a one stop shop for streaming EVERYTHING. It sucks to have to have accounts with other streaming services when Netflix could probably do the job better.

You are totally right. It is annoying as there are many series that could be shown and are distributed but are not under these circumstances.
