Designated Survivor (US ABC TV Series)

Entertainment One Benelux will release the first season of Designated Survivor (2016-) on Blu-ray in Holland on 1 November 2017.

Thus far, Holland is the only country to announce a Blu-ray edition. In the USA, Disney will release the series on DVD only, while in the UK, Entertainment One UK only have a DVD available to pre-order for September release.

Does anyone have any eOne Benelux TV releases? Are they normally 1080p or are they 1080/50i? I see a French version is included, does that mean there should be a French lossless audio track as well, or just French subtitles?

I received my copy yesterday.

This release is region free, as indicated on the packaging.

Entertainment One have provided a bit of an odd release, here. While the Netherlands were the first country to get this release, it also includes not only English SDH, Dutch and French subtitles (as well as a French: DTS-HD MA 5.1 dub), but also, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish subtitles, too (in the the UK and Nordic countries, eOne released a DVD version; a Nordic Blu-ray version was initially available to pre-order, and then deleted). There are upcoming Blu-ray releases in France (20 December) and Germany (15 February), both of which may or may not be identical to each other, and which may have different encoding and language options.

All of the disc menus are in English, however, when each disc loads, there is a a Dutch Kijkwijzer 12 rating advert, and if you select "Play All" from the main menu, the Dutch subtitles are on by default. I have not sat and watched any episodes, yet, but going by the first episode, the program has its original English credits and graphics.

The season's twenty-one episodes are presented as five BD-50 discs with four episodes each, while the final episode and the video extras on a sixth BD-25 disc.

The three video extras should be identical to the US DVD release, but are presented in 1080p with English: Dolby Digital 2.0 audio, and they do not have any subtitles.

All subtitling is in white font.

Finally, please note that my copy came in an amaray case (inside a slipbox) that uses a single hub to stack all six discs on top of one another, like Sony's US releases of, for example, The Blacklist.

The episodes are not encoded together, but all of the episodes are roughly the same length, and so all are roughly the same file size, with the first five discs being 45-46 GB each, and the sixth disc being about 18 GB. Here is the BDInfo scan for the first episode on Disc 1:

Hey Pegs,

Those links I posted werent for downloads. They are the DVDs for sale through the ABC Shop. Its the best I could do. There are no downloads anymore as the series has finished.
