Especially annoying when See How They Run is a British film with quite a few well known British and Irish actors so I’m sure it would shift quite a few units within this territory. Surely a funny whodunnit would make for a good stocking filler, especially with all the Agatha Christie BDs/DVDs out there.
Barbarian is one of my favourites of this year, and it seems to have performed better than expected theatrically, so I hope that gets a disc too. Speaking of Disney: many recent National Geographic Documentary Films haven’t been getting discs (Torn, Fire of Love, The Territory, I was hoping Dogwoof would release discs of them. The Cordillera of Dreams will be released on DVD by New Wave on 28th November - the US Blu-ray (released two years ago!) is region free. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cordillera-...dp/B0BK7NP1CQ/ All that Breathes doesn’t have a preorder yet, but I’m confident Criterion will do a US release next year. Not seen discs for The Velvet Queen, Small Body, Who Killed the KLF?, Eleven Days in May, Free Chol Soo Lee, Drawn to War, Blind Ambition, Maisie, Fortune Favours Lady Nikuko, The Deer King, Pompo the Cinephile, Inu-Oh, Queen of Glory, Julia, Hallelujah, Silent Land, Girls Girls Girls, Earwig, After Blue yet either. Wondering if we'll get a Matilda disc in the UK next year. It has a very weird distribution situation.

Sony are hit and miss on what they release and if it’s only on disc here I guess would be BD at best. |

This tweet from Sony Pictures UK says that Matilda will be coming to Netflix UK and Ireland next Summer...
https://twitter.com/SonyPicturesUK/s...iNYFoyEjjyT6MA Obviously, there's no indication whether Sony will also be releasing it via physical media or digital prior to that. |

Considering a lot of Sony releases that have gone to Netflix have managed to come out on disc. I’d say a good chance it will happen eventually at the very least.

Whilst not a Blu Ray release (only DVD) this does look as near as we are going to see at this point in time of any English friendly physical media release of A Hero:

Any news on The Banshees of Inisherin? I really, really hope it gets a Blu-ray...I'd love to own it as it's an immediate favourite (I noticed it's coming to Disney+ on December 21st, if people didn't catch it theatrically). It did very well and was showing for several weeks locally, so fingers crossed that's enough for Disney to give it the HD bump on disc...surely more deserving than Amsterdam (which is also popping up on Disney+ in early December, and I'll watch it on there shortly afterwards).

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=357037 Also, a word of caution on Crossfire. The UK DVD (unfortunately no UK BD from Dazzler for this one) mentions it is a 3x60 series, but the German listings say it is 4x45: https://shop.alive-ag.de/gesamtkatal...ie-in-4-teilen There is unfortunately a lot of precedent for German companies re-cutting BBC content for 45-minute slots, and it seems like Crossfire will be another casualty. It does claim to run 200 minutes, so it's possible that content is only re-cut and not deleted, but the practice is still disturbing. Quote:

Seeing recent Universal titles like The Sisters Brothers licensed out to Arrow for UHD definitely gives me some hope for more like it years down the line - but that’s still 4 years after its release. |

HBO Max series Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin will be released on DVD by WB on 27th February.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pretty-Litt...dp/B0BNBVHDJQ/ Medieval will be released on DVD by Vertical on 30th January. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Medieval-DV...dp/B0BMGJ29CK/ Modern Films will belatedly release Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy on DVD on 19th December. Shame they didn’t license it to MUBI for a BD. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wheel-Fortu...dp/B0BMQH7494/ Last edited by CelestialAgent; 12-01-2022 at 12:59 PM. |
