Does anyone have the Devil Wears Prada UK Blu-ray?

It's AVC encoded versus the US MPEG-2.

Does anyone know if it has better PQ?

Both have DTS-HD MA soundtracks. Also is it region free?

I've tried to find a review of the UK one to see if the PQ is any better but haven't been able to find a comparison review.

I'm not sure whether the picture quality is better to that of the US release but it is amazing compared to the DVD release (like most Blu-Ray Discs) and yes it is region free - sorry for not being more helpful r.e. picture quality ;o)

It is a different encode to the US Blu-ray. AVC to the US's MPEG 2, it's on a BD50 where I think the US is a BD25, it has DTS HD-MA, and according to the back of my copy it is region free.

So the UK DVD drops a couple deleted scenes, and then the Blu-ray drops a bunch of featurettes? Weird it ended up this way

I love this movie yet I don't think I've watched any deleted scenes (I own the first pressing of the US DVD with o-card) and I recently upgraded to a BD that I don't recall where from. I hope that means all the material mentioned is on the US DVD

I'm shocked that a movie of this magnitude and such a crowd-pleaser doesn't have more extra features. I know I would love them.

I guess the best option is I get the UK Blu and pair it with the DVD for all the extras. Usually I like to just settle on one release but it would bug me to get just the UK DVD which is missing a few deleted scenes and it would seem silly to spend more on the Region 1 DVD.

Tonight I wanted to watch this, for the first time on BD and I found out that this Fox BD from the US was region-locked. Not sure why.
So I had to make do with the DVD, which is more than fine. But now I need to get the UK BD. Still really weird they haven't reissued this as an anniversary etc.

I would hazard that it predates mid-2011, which is when Fox quietly gave up region-locking their own product (though the US releases usually continued to bear only the "A" logo on the back, even though they were "B" and "C" as well).

It was a very early release, on a BD25, with an MPEG-2 encode, whereas the UK release was/is on a BD50, AVC encoded and should be noticeably better.

If you look on Amazon, someone is selling a used copy for a grand total of about £3.15, delivered.

The UK disc is superior to the US one, as it's an AVC encode, as opposed to Region A's MPEG2 efforts. The extras across the pond are in SD, whereas the UK copy has them in HD.

For just over £3, it's worth a punt.

Thanks both. I see that it is still available as new so I will buy it there. This movie is just too fabulous not to own on BD (that you can watch).
