Very sad news for the collectors of this item. It has been confirmed by Disney Benelux. From now on, the new releases won't have a slipcover. The first official reason was that Disney US decided the production costs were too high for European countries. After people didn't stop asking about it, they changed the official reason and said it was because of a new green company policy with Disney. We all know that ain't the reason at all.

The first new releases without slipcover are 'Pocahontas', 'The Fox and the Hound' and 'Tarzan'. It's not clear if future Diamond Editions or brand new movies won't have a slipcover either. More news on that subject later.

Wedlock is a source himself (and a non active user over here). I know how he gets his information, and he has proven to be reliable. However the distributors may change a release any moment. Especially Disney (Nemo?!). I agree these are rumours at this point. Especially while there is no indiction for a specific date. However seen the past I think these titles are work in progress.

I like that new rumor. However, I'm still waiting for release dates for these;

- Aristocats
- Treasure Planet
- Home on the Range
- Great Mouse Detective
- Brother Bear
- Atlantis: The Lost Empire
- Winnie the Pooh, but let's just give up on that one.

Aristocats is set for semptember. However the UK disc has Dutch subs & dub.

The other titles are in the release list for sometime this year. There is nog indication in which month. But with the current releases I would bet for november / december. Just in time for the holidays (Sinterklaas en kerst).

Winnie the Pooh is not planned at all for Western Europe. If you want a region B copy; this title is exclusive for the Scandinavian countries. Or you could import the Australian or region free US version. There won't be a version with Dutch subs & dubs. At least not planned in the near future.

Any news on Treasure Planet & Great Mouse Detective? Are they coming?

They are tentative for 2012 according to Wedlock his list. I have no clue in which month they should appear?! Maybe around Christmas?

More news about this subject. Disney Benelux stated the following :

• Old Disney Classics that are not on the Diamond list : NO slipcovers.
• IF new releases (movies that are in theatres now or in the future) on blu-ray do get a slipcover, there is a big chance Diamond Editions are getting a slipcover also. Strange condition, but that's the statement. We'll see it soon enough when Cinderella is out.

Done. But OOP doesn't mean they aren't available anymore.

It seems that even the Diamond Edition are slipless now. And when I follow the weird logic in the previous information Disney Benelux gave, it's possible new titels (Brave, Wreck-it Ralph) won't get one either. I won't buy those at full price, that's for sure.

It's ridiculous, I agree. But I'm afraid prices won't drop just because there's no slip to go with them. If only I'd known at the time I started buying the Blu-Rays here I would've bought the US ones instead...

Anyway, mustn't grumble. It is as it is now.
