Re-Animator?

Never seen the sequel or From Beyond but always wanted to.

I already have the first Basket Case from the US, are the sequels any good?

Oh and I've never heard of Society.

The Basket Case sequels are not recommended blind buys. I like them but there is a dramatic shift in tone towards mutant muppet humor that might be glaring to someone who expects more of the traditional horror found in the first. Henenlotter's absurdist style is more prominent in the sequels which features scenes like a bus full of oddities singing and dancing, or a Belial romance subplot. It is great how each film is continuous from the last and they are gems but nothing about them is as "normal" as the first.

Synapse Films has the US rights for the Basket Case sequels and will likely get them out soon. For years there has been speculation of a Synapse Basket Case 3 release as the previous US DVD was butchered full frame and long oop.

I saw Society a long time ago, all I remember now is some kinda weird orgy thing... or maybe I'm just remembering a dream I had once...

I enjoyed Frankenhooker if that's the sort of thing you mean by Henenlotter's style.

It seems they've also submitted Walter Hill's Southern Comfort to the BBFC.

No confirmation on whether we'll see a Blu-ray, but let's hope so.

I just contacted Second Sight. This was their answer:

"Hi Thomas,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are indeed releasing it later in the year and it will be on Blu-ray.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page for release details shortly.

http://www.facebook.com/SecondSightFilms

Best,
Chris"

That made my day! Big time!

The guys at Second Sight are really coming up with the goods. Whoever is in charge of procurement needs a raise.

First up is Frank Henenlotter’s Basket Case Trilogy which will be getting a special limited edition Blu-ray steelbook release, as well as a special edition DVD. Slated for release on 22 October 2012 it will come with an amazing array of special features plus specially commissioned artwork by Graham Humphreys.
