Someone in front of me bought Star Wars for £80 the other day. I paid £60 on release. Obviously going for in-store scarcity value although £55 on Amazon

For those in Scotland remember that HMV has opened back up in Braehead but in a smaller store.

Some great titles in the 5 for 30, I spent 250 quid last week just on those deals, the store manager served me, and he said if he manages to not miss a security tag on this massive pile, he'll dance for joy, sure enough as I walked out the store with 3 bags of Blu's the alarm never went off, I turned and gave him a thumbs up, and he moonwalked while fist pumping

New release prices that I noticed on Blu-Ray:
24: Live Another Day £31.99 A Million Ways To Die In the West £12.99 Mrs. Browns Boys: More Christmas Crackers £12.99 The Wind Rises Blu-Rays is now in the 2 for £25. Also, double PURE points too. I really wish they advertises their Blu-Ray prices somewhere a few days before release. I've pretty much cancelled most of my Amazon orders as it seems 2/3 times HMV is cheaper. Since my PRIME expired too, it's far beneficial to go to HMV but hate making a trip to find out it's more expensive. Last edited by Elaniel; 10-06-2014 at 11:29 AM. |

The Invisible Woman (with shiny slipcover) is in the £5 for 30 offer along with Porky's along with Memphis Belle and The Jazz Singer steelbook.
A pretty decent range as well. de Palma's Sisters was just £7-99 and the EE of An Unexpected Journey just £14-99. They have also stocked most of the recent Eureka releases. This is the Watford branch only so may not be the case for other stores. |

Okay, so in the space of a few weeks I've bought 4 titles which is more than in the space of a couple of years! Would have bought a couple more had they been in stock. If they can continue to beat everyone on small/cult label prices then more power to them. I hope it's beneficial to both parties.

No. I was in my local today and it's the same old 5 for £30 crap. I'm hoping there will be some half-decent bargains in their Xmas sale... but I wouldn't bet on it. The last couple of years their "sale" items were the same priced stock as they had before Xmas but with new stickers on... seriously!!

Had a look yesterday at the 5 for £30 promotion, thought these were worth mentioning:
Rush (Red case/lenticular slipcase) Prisoners (Slipcase) Inside Llewyn Davis Anchorman 2 (2 disc with slipcase; not that great a film admittedly but still...) The Wolf Of Wall Street There were quite a few others released this year in the promotion that are cheaper than I've seen elsewhere. |
