Version of U-571 on Prime UK

Hi there


Bought U-571 on Amazon Prime Video (cheap price and in HD)

when watching the film, noticed a couple of things


first, during the start of the film, they speak German, however you get no translation on screen.

I have a R1 DVD of this film and you get on screen translation during these parts.

so I went OK, ill just turn on the subs (no pun intended) and then turn them off.

The interesting thing is, if you turn the subs on, it will display subs for the German dialogue

but does not display anything for English dialogue.


second, on the DVD before the film starts, you get text shown on screen (see below pic1) and during

the ending of the film you get some rolling text on screen (see below pic2,3)


This text is not present in the version on Amazon Prime Video

Does anyone know of a reason this has be omitted from this version.

Perhaps because Americans are less familiar with Enigma? That film is hugely inaccurate and was heavily criticised in the U.K. on release.
