I couldn’t see a thread for Con Air on iTunes.
I never bought a film on iTunes before, or in fact any film digitally but I’ve just got this and am pretty pleased. The image quality is so much better than the blu ray, I downloaded the 1080P version which appears to be the best version available here, but it’s only 4.5GB. I don’t suppose anyone knows any hacks to ease or improve things? I mean any way of getting a higher bitrate version etc? |

Yep. It's definitely from a remastered source.
Gone is the nasty EE/DNR and edge halos. See my spreadsheet below for bit rate information: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing I think download version is 720p and not 1080p. Would strongly advice streaming to get the best quality. Going by the average video bit rates, the 1080p stream should be close to 10 GB. Last edited by lgans316; 01-06-2021 at 10:02 AM. |

Hey thanks for the reply. I am pretty new to all this iTunes stuff. The file itself says 1080P on it. Also I have screencapped the file details. Its about 4.5GB, and the data rate is stated at 4500kbps. Its a higher bitrate if you stream? How do I stream it if I have already downloaded it? If I go to play it now it just plays the download. |

To stream the movie: 1. TV with Apple TV app. 2. External device with Apple TV app (e.g. Apple TV box, Roku, FireTV etc.). |

Yeah, I think someone previously determined that downloading a 1080p file will result in a file with a lower bitrate than what you can get when you stream.
Note- what you CAN get, with streaming it can be throttled up or down based on internet connection. I think the downloadable files are like a 'good average' of what streaming can do. Plus, it keeps them smaller to some degree (while still looking pretty good) for people that download them to their iPhones/iPads. If you look at the info in iTunes for the title, you can see the estimated size of the HD download, just so you can confirm you got the right size. Con Air 1080p should be about 4.7gb I think on a PC and on an Apple device, when you 'stream' the movie, the only file it streams is that 4.7gb version (assuming it's playing 1080p). Quote:
I figured on an Apple TV box that streaming it either way would give the same results... But never checked it myself (I've never actually used the 'Apple TV' app itself on the Apple hardware...) |

Screened the blu-ray recently for some friends who’d never seen it and it looked woeful, then today had a glimpse of the streaming version on Amazon and Christ what an improvement. Immediately bought the iTunes version.
Is there a list of superior streaming versions anywhere? Don’t want to get bitten by a cruddy disc when there’s a much better streamer out there again… |

All we can do is hope dozing Disney wakes up and does a 4K physical release which could prompt a 4K digital upgrade. Few of their own movies are 4K on iTunes and HD on D+ |
