New Advertising System

I tried to accept the ads but I couldn't take it any longer. I'd try to click on something on the page and an ad would pop up at the time I was clicking and next thing I'm on the advertisement page. I had to disable the ads and I hated that. They just seemed to be all over the place and popping up at the wrong times. Sorry!!!!

Sorry, I can't stand ads and was blocking elements one at a time.
It was going to drive me away from the site.

I've loved this site for many years but the ads are ruining my experience. They are literally overwhelming the screen, especially when viewing on a cell phone. Right now I'm on a computer and ads fill 1/4th of the screen.

I'm browsing the site on Safari, and the ads make the pages crash most of the time... Very annoying and unpractical...

I just loaded this web site in a different browser than the one I normally use.

Wow.

I didn't realize when you use a browser with no ad blocking, there is a video in the bottom right that plays without letting you close it. Then there is a huge banner at the top that covers everything. Plus more huge ads in the center of the page.

Really disappointing to see this much crap on the site.

Maybe the default level of ads for this site just shouldn't be at this level of repugnant and obnoxious and site breaking.

For every new thread or post once or twice a week of someone discovering these ads and taking the time to express their disappointment, how many visitors do you think come on here and see a barrage of auto-playing videos and pop ups blocking their way and rightfully say "oh, f*ck you" and try to come back here as little as possible?


*I mean, visitor and traffic levels for this site aside, maybe y'all shouldn't irritate and inconvenience people by default like this.

What the heck is going on with this site? If it needs that much advertising to keep the doors open, it is sad times. I can only see about a quarter of the page at the best of times. Adverts on top, on the side and the bottom. They take up half the page from the top adverts by themselves. Just drive me away, no thank you... This is the whole laptop page, look at these pictures!

Turn off all of these stupid ads!! Your site has now truly become a laughable creation. There are absolutely no need for ads on this site. I use to have respect for this site until you start posting that junk everywhere. I try looking at site content today and keep getting ads making that activity very difficult. This is silly. Not a single person using this site wants to see that junk. I tried turning them off once, and that didnt seem to do anything. Seriously?

Just figured out how to turn off ads, thanks to Kylor. As a fairly long-time member, they were keeping me from visiting the site as often. Gladly willing to send some funds your way to help with site operations in addition to using your links...even though we have figured out how to turn them off, new users aren't going to bother...they just won't visit a second time.

Go to your Site preferences and turn off the ads.

This should lead to the place

then go down to

Third party sites
Display advertising

and uncheck it. The scroll to the bottom and click update settings.

I use to spend hours here at Blu-ray dot com - shopping and reading - some research and chatting but now . . . with all these ads (that you can't seem to close or move) it ain't worth my time. It's getting absurd and frustrating and beyond annoying! I can't be the only one? Is there a sub or a way to pay for ad removal? Jesus tap dancing Christ, if I have to watch the Barbarian teaser trailer one more effing time . . . wonderful and resourceful site but the greed and marketing and ads have turned this into a Blade Runner, SkyNet, Cyberdyne monstrosity . . . not enjoyable and frankly a slap in the face! Is there anything that can be done?
