When Catherine (Jade Leung), a mentally disturbed young woman, is detained by the police after accidentally killing a truck driver, she finds herself part of a covert training system. Programmed as an assassin, having learned a host of new deadly skills, she becomes a lethal government weapon, codenamed Black Cat.

It's actually the first remake of Luc Besson's Nikita.

I'll buy it cuz I've always wanted to see it. But i'm excited to wait for the trailer they might give us.

Never saw Point of No Return. Not sure why I've stayed away from that. Guess the poster just bored me a lot as a kid. And as an adult, just never got to it. How is that one?

Heavily inspired by Luc Besson's Nikita which in turn was inspired by the many HK action flicks coming out around that time.

The whole restaurant sequence in Nikita is fantastically realised and very 'Woo' like in its visual aesthetics

Unusually I actually preferred both TV series over any of the films.

Turns out Mario Bianchi, who's best films are his non-porn ones, did a porn remake, in 1997, starring the sugically enhanced Sarah Young.

I sort of remember the USA show, I was a kid. I didn't watch it but I knew of it. I kind of sort of remember the intro.

How was that 2nd series? Maggie Q looked cool.

This will probably be discussed in the extras on the disc. Actress Jade Leung was badly injured during the shoot, in a stunt in a corridor where she had to outrun a fireball explosion. Something went wrong with the staging, she was engulfed in flames and had to go to hospital for treatment of her burns. ASIAN CULT CINEMA magazine did an interview with her in the 90's where she talked about the incident and they showed photos of her in hospital. Leung was a good sport about it, didn't express any bad feelings towards the filmmakers, and the stunt and accident all appear in the movie.

OP updated. I really like this artwork. These editions are just spectacular and, while this movie isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread, it is quite the ride and I hope the fandom enjoy it.

The German DVD utilizes the same master as the German video tape from the early nineties: cropped fullscreen, cut to shreds, German dub only, no subtitles.
