Righting Wrongs Blu-ray

It seems like 88 Films are going to release this based on information so far although there hasn't been an official announcement yet.

I've been hanging out for this film to get the treatment from 88 (or Eureka) so am stoked.

I thought we could discuss possible cuts/audio tracks/subtitles/extras/etc.

I'll edit the thread title with a release date once known and add cover art, etc. For now the link above is to the database entry on this site.

One of the ones I been waiting for! Fingers crossed for this.

I'm only familiar with it as its one of the films shown on The Best of Martial Arts compilation narrated by John Saxon from the early 90's (?) - This compilation open up a smorgasbord of films i wanted to see; slowly via Eureka & 88 this is happening!

As for this film, the clips i saw was Cynthia Rothrock getting hand cuffed to a balustrade by Yuen Biao after a fight, and a Peter "Sugarfoot" Cunningham v Biao fight in an apartment.

A hybrid cut? How should that work?:

I imagine a Hybrid cut would

This is another one I've been waiting for!

I've never seen the export cut but I used to own the Universe dvd with the alternate version. Are theses indentical? Hope it's possible to add the classic english dub to the HK-cut with some cut and pasting

No. The Export cut is based on the alternate Mandarin version you can find on the Universe DVD but missing 8.5 minutes:

Several European releases (e.g. the UK VHS) were then based on the Export Cut but trimmed even further.

Hope it's possible to add the classic english dub to the HK-cut with some cut and pasting

With the alternate scenes some compromises would need to be made for a Hybrid cut. So that would indeed be a nice-to-have but should count as a bonus to the 2 or actually 3 official versions.

Really looking forward to the final specs and good to know this title is in very capable hands.

Not sure why we need spoilers but okay. Anyway, yes. A hybrid cut would make sense w/o keeping the china friendly ending.

Thanks for the info and the link. have not watched the mandarin cut for 20 years or so, so I didn't remember it had so much extra footage!

Yeah looking through the various edits made, a hybrid english track would probably not be such a good idea..

An extended cut featuring the mandarin ending would be my prefered verison, though it would require a mandarin/cantonese hybrid track.

This movie has always stood out for me, for 3 reasons: Awesome Biao, awesome soundtrack and the fact that

[Show spoiler] almost the ENTIRE cast dies! The characters of Fan Siu Wong, Biao, Rothrock, Corey Yuen, James Tien, Melvin Wong, Sugarfoot, and so on. Like only Wu Ma made it out alive. Mayhem even for a HK film!

The mandarin ending was a nice alternative.

I guess a hybrid cut featuring a choice of endings would be the ultimate, but I don’t think the alternate reshot ending works at all, so I’d be satisfied with a hybrid cut with the original ending.

Thank you so much! The reconstruction that tried to kill me, LOL. Inside secret? I actually had never seen 18 Bronzemen prior to working on the set, lol. But my stubbornness took me down a rabbit hole to do what we could, and Irongod definitely helped cull a lot together to make things possible on my end, so BIG thumbs up to him as well!

As for Righting Wrongs, can't say much at the moment, other than there's a coked-up hamster on a wheel in my brain processing all of the ideas I would have... now to see how many of them can come to life, lol.

I have never seen a Cynthia Rothrock film, but remember them from the video store of my youth. So bring it!
