The mastering was a bit of a head-scratcher, to say the least. My thanks to a number of people who provided issues of the film (VHS, LaserDisc, VCD, DVD, and Blu-ray) for checking against in applying fixes.

Not sure if anyone with inside information this release can help me out with this confusion, but I know this was initially in the US section and was moved to the UK section after the announcement from 88 Films, however I noticed DiabolikDVD didn’t add it with the other announced titles for preorder.

I just asked them why and they said because it was a US release and would be added later. Now I’m not sure if they’re confused or there’s another US release coming that wasn’t announced yet. Pretty confusing on my end though, I don’t know what to believe.

You may have misread something along the way. What Diabolik confirmed was a US release would be coming from a different company (possibly Arrow or VS).

Ah okay, well that’s weird then if Diabolik is just refusing to sell the 88 version then, wonder if licensing reasons prevents them selling versions from two companies they deal with if it’s in the US and UK. Guess it can’t hurt for me to ask them.

I'll save you the effort, someone already did.

On Twitter, DiabolikDVD tweeted that the US rights holder asked that they not stock the UK release. From what others have said, I guess this isn't an uncommon practice.

Ah okay, thanks. LOL already sent them an email, but good to know. Yeah it’s frustrating to see this from a store that sells imports, but understandable when they don’t want to lose business from any US companies.

Yeah I went the Amazon UK route since I was ordering a few other things, not as safe as Diabolik by a long shot, but I had good luck from them in the past when they used to be the cheapest option (pre-pandemic). I know 88’s own packaging is reasonably safe, but last I checked their shipping costs went way up to the US.

OrbitDVD will probably stock it. They seem to be hip to the Region B releases.
