Default Planet of the Apes 1968

Noticed the other day that the original Planet of the Apes is no longer available to buy on iTunes. Its still available for purchase on Amazon and Vudu. Any ideas why?

As said above, it's gotta be a weird rights thing. I know this often happens with things like Disney's Buena Vista movies that they haven't figured out what platform to put on, or a Starz/Lionsgate thing, or maybe the new MGM and Amazon stuff

It's gone everywhere.

Likely Disney is figuring out what to do with it.

I noticed that Rise of the Planet of the Apes along with a load of other 20th Century Fox titles is currently up for Pre-Order in the US for tomorrow.

They don't appear to be relists since iTunes is showing them as owned for me.

They're also not listed as 20th Century Studios, etc., but rather "20th Century Fox", "Fox Searchlight", etc.

Its a bit odd and just doesnt seem to make much sense being under a pre order.
Some of the other titles I noticed
The Sound of Music
Fantastic Mr Fox
Black Swan
127 Hours

The pre-order status makes sense in that you are apparently unable to purchase these titles at this time.

I own TSoM, FMF, Black Swan, and one of the other titles. A quick glance showed that all of them are still shown as downloadable, and no change in studio name.

FOX should have released a 4k uhd disc for the 50th anniversary of The Planet of the Apes back in 2019 before the Disney debacle. Don't get me started.

If you can tolerate commercials, they're all free to watch on Amazon's Freevue streaming service.

darn it! I got my hopes up that someone had licensed out Planet of the Apes from disney. This is probably my most wanted movie on 4K at the moment. Hopefully, we'll get it at some point.

Maybe Disney will let Criterion do it. They just gave them Wall-E.
