I’ve got the a German version. It isn’t up to much, and I have low expectations for this version. Strawberry Media with ITV studios put out Sapphire on DVD a few years ago. I really like that film so it would be nice to see a BD for that sometime if they are venturing out into blu ray releases.

Either that, or the brighter Aussie version from the same dated source scan. They can package it as lovely as they want, what it really needs is a whole new scan. So I'm gutted really Strawberry seem to have renewed - it really needed to go to someone like Network who have a good relationship with and access to ITV film vaults.

I messaged Strawberry Media on Facebook about the transfer for this, and their reply was, "The source of the master is the copyright owner ITV and nor synapse although we have acquired some material from them to be included in the extras".

That doesn't sound promising. Sounds like a slap on disc what you're given job, so obviously the same old master, but likely it'll still be missing dialogue that some other labels have patched back in themselves.

That would be great if they are new scans. But I think Synapse is still holding on to the license for these.

This is sounding like the old synapse release replete with the missing audio dialogue in the fight scene isn't it ? I almost got my hopes up for a second.

A transfer that has been criticised for years and this is what they intend to release.
Strawberry Media really are a shit company. They could do what Indicator would do with this title, but no. They just can’t be arsed. Well, I won’t be buying this. Reward bad behaviour, encourage bad behaviour. |

I got it, it's not the best transfer i've ever seen but it's not the worst either, it's clearly an old master but visually it's obviously a huge upgrade from my 20 year old DVD however unfortunately it does have the 'How can i thank you' line missing at around the 29:50 mark which is on my DVD.

We've had five releases of Vampire Circus so far: Synapse, Elephant Films, Imprint, Pidax and Strawberry Media. Cmiiw. I have the Synapse release but I'm not satisfied with the picture quality - too dark in certain scenes.
Is the picture quality of the UK release better than Synapse's? I'd be surprised if it is. What about Pidax's? |

Eh **** it, I've ordered a copy from amazon. Wanted this in my collection for too long and tired of waiting for a decent transfer. It'll look better than my old recorded off tv VHS I used to have anyhoo..

Silliest comment I've read online today. As someone who ran a cinema for a while, I can assure you this is nonsense. We didn't spend time adjusting bulb brightness for films, they went on as they came, only differences being aspect ratios and sound mixes. And no, film prints weren't made dark for cinema exhition, they were sent as they were meant to be seen.
