I've done some ironing before to a slip. It can make it slightly better if you do it right. It will never completely get rid of the creases. If anything, it might look max 25-33% better if you do it right. I would practice on a slip you don't care about first. Make sure you put some paper between the slip and the iron. I've had the iron take out paint from the slip due to direct contact before. Don't get the slip or any paper wet. Water if absorbed can do a lot of damage to paper which is irreversible.

Not all slips are created the same. Some have less gloss than others which makes them more prone to water damage.

well, one thing that might help a little is taking the slip off and putting it under a stack of books to flatten it out. The dents and dings might look a little better afterwards... nothing will make them look perfect however.
