HMV Exclusives are never new scans, just ports of existing discs.
That Nightmare on Elm Street set that supposedly had the uncut version of the first was a a big con as well.

I think the first and third films were decent, the second was just a rehash of the first so I'd put that as my least favourite (by far).

Same applies to both Wayne's World movies.

I like the packaging - I'd get it, but the fact that, they're not ports of the US discs turns me off completely.

The US discs may be very outdated by now, but they're still the best ones, more complete in terms of special features.

Hoping one day for a 4K release..

So I picked this up hoping for the best of both - the uncut version and the directors commentary found on the US release. And whilst the back of the box looked promising "Fab commentary on each movie"

- I can confirm that International Man of Mystery is the Icon release from 2021.

Bit gutted and might try and get a refund.

The german releases have international version, the commentary and the most extras for the first movie.

The lame disc for the first movie makes this set very easy to pass on, they'd have to knock off 75% before I'd be interested...

I just wish I could see the full length cut again. This I saw theatrically in the UK when the film first came out. Every version I have seen since on home video (VHS, DVD and Blu-ray) has been a shortened version, with footage that I saw integrated into the film (e.g. the life raft ending, stewardesses scene, extended Will Ferrell scene) only presented as deleted scenes. The US version is of course the most edited of all but the UK home video version is also significantly cut down from the UK theatrical version I watched. And this isn't a case of faulty memory - my brother also recalls exactly the same theatrical experience so I know it was real.

The only difference between the UK cinema release (94 mins) and the UK Home Video versions (91/95 mins PAL/24fps) is the restoration of a joke about Prince Charles divorcing Diana.

It was of course many years ago now but the version I saw was definitely longer than the home video versions and incorporated most (if not all) of the scenes that now appear on discs as deleted scenes.

If my brother hadn't been with me I'd question my memory but we have both always been 100% sure that the version we saw was not the one that made it to VHS, DVD and Blu-ray. It wasn't a preview either, it was the first week of release and I can probably dig out the ticket as I have kept every one since 1992. I'm not getting mixed up with the US cut either - that was the first home video version we watched and so much was missing that I couldn't wait to replace it with the UK version. But when I did, as nice as it was to see Christian Slater again, both my brother and I still noticed that scenes were missing or shortened from the version we fell in love with.

This full length UK cut is my holy grail and somewhere it must exist...

I'm convinced there were different versions released in UK cinemas. I was a big True Romance fan and would definitely have noticed Christian Slater - at least once! My friend and I would have been talking about Orange Sherbert for ages. Instead we were talking about the henchmen scenes.
