For our commentary we watched and shared notes on the Taiwanese edit. It has some likable bits but doesn't transform the film massively.

Might have to buy it purely for the artwork which is stunning! This, Gorgeous & Seventh Curse has the most visually appealing & colourful coverart I've seen for quite a while.

The movie itself was ok, I enjoyed it yet it lost some of its appeal the 2nd time around. Hope 88 does a 2K trailer so I can see the improvement over DVD

Seems like its going to be 25 pounds again due to the hardcase though

Loving the hybrid English dub on the mandarin print of Iceman Cometh, the more hybrid dubs the better

Glad this is getting a release before Christmas, Terracotta are holding back my copy of The Dead And The Deadly as I ordered these together.

It's a treacherous business releasing HK stuff, the cycle is built on flavour of the month and much of the output is rote recycling of popular tropes. Those of us who lived through the hey days can recognise the stone cold classics that broke ground but leaving aside that, it all depends on your first introductions at the time. I remember seeing the likes of Police Assassins (yes madam) or Above The Law and being astounded but I could understand why a newcomer today may be underwhelmed as their USPs have been copied to death since. Personally I consider Iceman and Magnificent Warriors as second tier. They have awkward tonal shifts, dated Fx (in case of former) and routine wire work. But don't listen to me. I applaud their resurgence and the SE pedestals on which they sit now but I've resigned myself to sticking with the dvds as I can still watch them whenever I want. I just don't want to / can't spend £25 on everything I like.

Will probably pass on this. Was disappointed with Biao's Hero, On The Run and even Eastern Condors. Cant justify spending £25 on another blind buy that looks weirder than the movies mentioned. Yuen Wah's characters really seems to annoy me. But I am really looking forward to Righting Wrongs!

If you're not even a fan of Eastern Condors then this is probably an easy pass. There is less action in Iceman Cometh and a lot of comedy as well.

Mine arrived this morning. Looks like a great overall package but the booklet is just a big waste of space. The text is HUGE and spread across so many pages to fatten it up. Makes it a bit more difficult to read than it should have been. IMO, should have just put the essay at the start spread over a handful of pages and then all the imagery on its own pages afterwards.
