Yeah Germany seems to be the only country that puts out a lot of NZ films on Blu. Such a shame our own country won't pick up distribution rights for them. |

Yeah, its a shame. I even wish Umbrella would release NZ movies. I'm still waiting for Bad Taste to be released on Blu ray. I wish Peter Jackson would do something with it.

I think the Icon Home Entertainment BD of 'The Piano', released Dec. '14, and labeled "Digitally Remastered" is probably the best option, if you want subtitles and the audio commentary track. It is 1.85:1, which is the theatrical format, and has both DTS-HD-MA 5.1 and DD-HD 5.1 spoken English tracks. It is an All Regions disc. I just checked various possible sources for it and it would appear that ebay is currently the place to go. All sources there are Australian.

In your photo of NZ BD titles, I also noticed some other titles that you did not include, in addition to 'Heavenly Creatures', that I would have thought you might have such as:
Black Sheep Dead Kids The Dead Room The Devil's Rock Diagnosis Death Footrot Flats Forgotten Silver Fresh Meat Ghost Bride The Tattooist Have you ordered 'Pork Pie'? |

![]() ![]() I kept meaning to get Diagnosis Death, but now it's gone up in price considerably, so i'll have to just keep an eye out for that one. Forgotten Silver is only available from the Marketplace at the moment, and no seller will ship to either my UK or US address. Damn, yep I have Fresh Meat and The Devils Rock, but forgot to pull those two out too lol. Same goes for Black Sheep, which I have in the double pack with Severance. I'll have to update the photo when my next orders roll in. I seriously went into town yesterday to get Pork Pie, but I couldn't justify spending $32 on it.. I didn't buy Wilderpeople at that price, so i'll wait till it goes down to atleast $18. |

You might well be adding to the Australian list some more in the near future as it's just been announced that Umbrella have signed up twenty-five titles from the South Australia Film Corporation's catalogue as per this press release. Titles include Sunday Too Far Away, Breaker Morant, The Club, Storm Boy, Money Movers and the 1986 miniseries version of The Shiralee. I'd pick up Blus of those - the DVDs I have of Sunday Too Far Away and Storm Boy aren't great by any means.
I've no idea if it's one of the twenty-five, but I could certainly live without seeing Pacific Banana again... |

I can't think of a more 'Australian' film than Walkabout (1971).
Directed by Nicolas Roeg. A Pom. The OP states the qualifier "Directed by Australians, Filmed in Australia", which negates a shitload of films that, in a 'normal arena', 9/10 people would absolutely hail as "classic" Australian cinema. But, for whatever it's worth, I do agree with the OP qualifier for the purpose this particular thread is endeavouring to achieve. Aussie/ Kiwi calling the shots behind the camera. Standing knee deep on Australia/ New Zealand soil. Preferably with an Aussie/ Kiwi in front of the damn camera too! |
