Interesting. We’ll, 20,000 hours is still quite a lot when you watch just a few hours on it per week. Good to know.

Does anyone know if the NX9 requires an 8K receiver for 8K upsampling? Since it’s just upscaling, does e-shift 8K work with 4K receivers? I might not even use the e-shift if I got a NX9 but it would be nice to know if it could work with a 4K receiver if I went that route.

I’m still not sure if I’ll get a NX7 or NX9 but wanted to know if anyone has an answer to this question.

You'd want a full HDMI 2.1 8k capable receiver if you ever want to pass native 8K content like from an 8K USB or 8K camera or even if you want to externally stream YouTube 8K content.

All of the new 8K capable (HDMI 2.1) receivers would also be very helpful for the stability and other features of the HDMI 2.1a spec. has to offer.

I don’t think the NX series accepts 8K signal

Thanks for the answers.

The new Marantz receivers didn’t carry over the highest quality DAC chip except for the highest end models (at around $6,000 each).

One of the highest end models for one of the previous generations (4K equipped but no 8K input) still has the highest quality DAC chips (actually the other models in that line do as well, I have one for my OLED setup).

I am building a second home theater, the first time with a projector, and budget is (of course) a consideration. Thanks for the help!
