I have a few 3D/2D combo discs and I notice 2 problems. The first is they are not advertised clearly as 3D/2D combos discs. The ones I have are Smurfs, Dredd, Creature form the Black Lagoon, and Avatar, No where does it say 3D/2D combo disc.

The second reason why that failed was they sold separate 2D-only Blu Rays. I’ve seen all 4 of those titles in 2D-only BD form. Thye were probably cheaper.

That’s be like making a Dolby version, a separate DTS version, (which I might be interested in being segregated, because my headsets get silence on DTS movies, so you can see why I want that, even though I’d rather have headphones that convert Dolby Atmos, DTS 11.1 and LPCM 7.1 into a headphone track.) and finally in a $5-off budget version, a 2-track stereo Blu Ray.

If that sound ridiculous, then why is 3D being Jim Crowed considered acceptable but not sound formats?

Yes. I'm still rather disappointed that SHOUT!Factory didn't continue this clever strategy with this year's release of the last, great (classic) IMAX film Aircraft Carrier: Guardian of the Seas.

(4K UHD BD only complemented by a 2D Blu-ray, although the film was released in IMAX 3D)

I wouldn't buy it without the 3D version included.
