Sony Pictures The Angry Birds Movie 2 (2019) No 3D Blu-ray

I didn't see any mention of 3D in the advertising but this is listed in some cinemas as being in 3D.

Unfortunately Sony will probably dump it out on Blu-ray flat worldwide, as they did with Hotel Transylvania 3. The UK listings are up and unsurprisingly do not include 3D.

After no 3D disc for Men in Black International i think there will be no 3D version of Angry Birds 2.

This makes me "angry"...

With no disc for Jumanji 3 i will become Hulk...

What a poverty certificate for a company called itself "WORLD OF 3D" !!!

Men in Black was a flop. If Jumanji becomes a hit then i am sure we will get a Blu-Ray 3D same with Angry Birds 2

Just saw the movie. Unfortunately the red carpet premiere I attended was shown in 2D. The opening night is tomorrow and the movie is also shown in 3D (at least in Finland).

This movie really needs 3D! There are lot's of scenes that are made to be seen in 3D and look just dull in 2D.

The movie itself is much better than the first one. It's filled with gags, there's great soundtrack and the story is simple yet entertaining.

Now I hope I can see it again on 3D blu-ray!

nothing suggests that at all they opted not to release Men In Black 4 because its a massive flop. I bet if it were a hit then it would get a 3D Blu-Ray release like Spidey, Venom ect.

More reason for me not to buy any Sony equipment. Ironically their release of the first movie with the 4K disc partially prompted me to get a TV that could do both 3D and 4K while they were still available, as well as a 4K player (an Oppo, which also turned out to be good timing).

There were barely any screentimes for this film at my cinema upon its release day, let alone any 3D presentations. I'm sure the 3D could really have given some added enjoyment factor.

Just saw AB 2 in 3-D and 4DX.

Maybe it's because I'm a little burned out with 3-D CG kids movies that I just couldn't get into it. The 3-D was mostly medium to mild depth with a few popouts. They could have pushed it more.

The 4DX was an interesting effect with tilting, shaking seats, wind, mist, water and flashing lights. One major drawback was that I had to wipe off my 3-D and prescription glasses about four times. I think more of a 3-D ride movie like Polar Express would be pretty cool in 4DX.

If you have little ones or you're a little one at heart or a fan of the first movie then it should be fun.

Watched today... and it's just okay. Both the 3D and the movie itself. Agree with @br3ttD about mild-to-medium 3D, but I didn't notice any pop-outs. For the story, it's like they threw everything and the kitchen sink--some gags work, a few are hilarious, but others fall flat.

The 3D trailer for the upcoming 'Abominable' looked great though. Looks to have enveloping, well-done 3D.

This would have been a no brainer Day One purchase for me.

Just like the first one, I thought it was hysterical. Just caught me in the right mood, I guess.

Yeah, it pisses me off when a film is advertised as having 3D and cinema programmers fail to offer a 3D option to cinemagoers.

So I will spare you all my usual list of anecdotes and examples of times that it worked for me, but it is ABSOLUTELY worth writing to the programmer of your local cinemas (if they refer you to a regional superior, go ahead and write to them) about how you would like a 3D showing of this (and/or any other upcoming) film that was made in the 3D format and that is being distributed to cinemas by the studio with a 3D format option.
You can point out that it is in the creators' interest, the customers' interest, and the cinemas' interest to at the very least offer the 3D as an option when it exists. Remember, 3D cinema screenings (and the lack thereof) are the frontline of the battle to save/maintain 3D filmmaking. They are the statistics that studio-distributors (Sony, in this case) are watching, when determining whether or not to continue producing 3D output in the first place.

Separately, of course, you can and should write to Sony directly about their worrying attitude to 3D blu-ray, though this is not going to yield the same results (if any) as writing immediately and directly to a local cinema programmer who is individually failing to offer any 3D screening for a 3D film that is currently in cinemas.

The film's poster clearly promotes itself as "[release date] in Real-D 3D". It's always embarrassing for a cinema programmer when you can show them (with a photo) that the film posters that have been put up in their own cinema are advertising a format that is not being shown in that cinema...

Well no reason to expect one really, since the last Sony Pictures Animation film they decided to release on 3D blu-ray anywhere was 2017's Smurfs: The Lost Village. (I'm not counting Spiderverse as that was co-produced by Marvel, 3D distribution was possibly a contractual obligation.)

They didn't even bother producing a 3D version of the recent Goosebumps sequel, let alone a 3D blu-ray. I guarantee other studios will go the same way if theatrical 3D takes the expected fatal dive in 2019 (2018 was already disastrous). 3D blu-ray sales aren't being noticed anymore and 3D streaming just isn't a thing. Asian demand for theatrical 3D has helped in recent years but is also dying.
Theatrical 3D is genuinely where we 3D fans make our last stand.
Which is why I'll be driving 1 hour on Monday with a few people to the nearest Swiss cinema showing this in undubbed 3D. Show Sony there's still 3D demand.
