I usually buy quads for two main reasons, price and if I like the artwork. I don't really have a list of quads that I want, like a list of films you might to see for instance, I usually just buy quads on a whim if I like it and it's cheap enough.

However, there are a few quads that I have always wanted, including Creepshow 2 so when this quad turned up recently on eBay for 30 Buy it Now I had to have it. 30 is more than I usually pay for a quad but I have always wanted a Creepshow 2 one. Always. The decision was easy. It's in terrific condition and only has one horizontal fold rather than usual two. Bonus. I am really proud of this one.

20200827_085541_resized.jpg

'The Terror Begins When the Curtain Goes Up' I have always liked Creepshow 2 as a film, sure the first story 'Old Chief Wood'nhead' is routine but 'The Raft' and 'The Hitchhiker' segemnts are great... I don't care what anybody else says.

20200827_085555_resized.jpg

Awesome artwork, it's shame this skull faced guy isn't the actual host of Creepshow 2 and we get that silly animated stuff, in fact this guy looks like the host from the original Creepshow.

20200827_085600_resized.jpg

Entertainment in Video released loads of New World films both theatrically and on VHS here in the UK, I would have loved to have seen Creepshow 2 at the cinema but I was far too young to get into an '18' rated film back in 1987. I remember getting my parents to rent the big box VHS which used the same art.

20200827_085613_resized.jpg

Here's another photo of my Creepshow 2 quad because it's awesome and I love it. One of my favourites. Sensibly downgraded from an uncut '18' to an uncut '15' by the BBFC in 2004.

Another one from my small wish list that I managed to find on eBay recently.

This one cost me 35 which was even more than Creepshow 2 but the quad is awesome and since it usually sells for more than that I really no choice other than to buy it. Again, terrific condition as well.

20201007_143605_resized.jpg

Really amazing eye-catching artwork, I just can't see any film company using this sort of art today. Unlike Creepshow 2 I don't actually like Trick or Treat as a film, I just think it's crap.

20201007_143523_resized.jpg

I wonder how well Trick or Treat did at the UK box-office? I know I would have been disappointed if I had spent money on seeing it at the cinema but this art probably would have suckered me in. The guy with something shooting out of his finger looks like he is wearing an Elvira wig.

20201007_143530_resized.jpg

'The Ultimate Comeback' is a decent enough musical pun tagline I suppose but I much prefer the other one for Trick or Treat that went 'His Fans Won't Let Him Die... He Won't Let them Live'.

20201007_143547_resized.jpg

It's been a while I last watched Trick or Treat and I think this demon monster thing is in it, doesn't it attack a woman in the back of a car? I don't care. A 'Special Appearance' by Ozzy Osbourne would probably be played up much more today.

I have always liked this simple yet effective quad for Disclosure despite it not being the type of film I like or the type of quad I usually like.

20201007_141343_resized.jpg

'Sex is Power', the '18' certificate seems very harsh even for back in the mid 90's, I think this would get a '15' now.

20201007_141423_resized.jpg

Not much to this quad but I like it.

This is a pretty obscure original UK quad for a pretty obscure horror thriller called Impulse.

I have never seen Impulse and this quad doesn't exactly want to make me rush out and track a copy down. It's a bit of a forgettable photoshopped curiosity, not a terrible quad but not great either. I am still happy I own it though.

20201007_141559_resized.jpg

This quad is playing up Meg Tilly's Oscar Nomination, and why not?

20201007_141610_resized.jpg

These three stills from the film feel like they belong on the back of a VHS cover rather than a cinema quad.

20201007_141625_resized.jpg

Yeah, the old school BBFC '18' certificate, I always like seeing these on UK quads.

20201007_141638_resized.jpg

'The Impulse to Commit Acts of Uncontrollable Terror' is a bit of a dull tagline but what the hell, it'll do.

I am bored so I'll post some pictures of my original UK for something called Flashpoint.

Never seen this one, quite a nice looking quad.

20200803_212547_resized.jpg

An almost completely buried skeleton, a steering wheel and a gun. Cool.

20200803_212603_resized.jpg

Another photo.

20200803_212610_resized.jpg

Another photo. The artwork is nicely done I suppose.

Default It's Steven Seagal!

It's Steven Seagal in one of his better films Above the Law which was retitled to Nico here in the UK even though the phrase Above the Law still made the tagline.

20200705_001414_resized.jpg

Seagal looking mean and moody in the still photo that was used on the US one sheet.

20200705_001429_resized.jpg

Pam Grier, Sharon Stone and Henry Silva also made the cast and director Andrew Davis helmed the thing.

20200705_001437_resized.jpg

I quite like this watercolour styled looking sketch of Seagal here, it's pretty cool and is the best thing about this otherwise fairly bland quad.

Default More Steven Seagal!

Two years on from Nico and yet more Steven Seagal from a time when he could turn in a decent action film, this time he is Hard to Kill.

20200705_014755_resized.jpg

Sharon Stone in Nico and now Kelly Le Brock in this, I wouldn't have said no. While Nico was passed uncut by the BBFC for cinema Hard to Kill had to have 12 seconds removed for it's '18' certificate.

20200705_014819_resized.jpg

It's been a few years since Seagal could fit into a pair of jeans that tight.

Original UK quad for Handgun (1983).

Nothing special.

20200302_215308_resized.jpg

Not a great cut and paste job.

20200302_215321_resized.jpg

Never seen this film, this quad is in amazing condition though, probably the only reason I bought it.

20200302_215343_resized.jpg

Looks like a standard revenge film. Yawn.

Here is my original UK quad for Spirit of the Wild which features very colourful hand painted artwork.

20200217_220609_resized_1.jpg

I have never seen Spirit of the Wild and I don't even know why I own this quad as it's not the sort of art or film that I usually like.

20200217_220557_resized_1.jpg

Looks very Disney-ish.

20200217_220543_resized_1.jpg

Hey Dan 'Grizzly Adams' Haggerty, your beard looks really stupid.

I also have this very similar looking UK quad for Guardian of the Wilderness.

20200401_234459_resized.jpg

I don't like the look that Bear has on it's face.

20200401_234515_resized.jpg

I have never seen Guardian of the Wilderness and I doubt I ever will.

20200401_234529_resized.jpg

Guardian of the Wilderness was released by Sunn Classic Productions who also released Spirit of the Wild and it's obvious they used the same artist on both quads.

20200401_234544_resized.jpg

Whoever wrote this on the back got the title wrong, it's Guardian of the Wilderness not Garden of the Wilderness.

My original UK quad for Death Weekend.

Also known as The House by the Lake this is a nice looking quad for a decent Canadian produced The Last House on the Left rip-off/cash-in.

20210303_221235_resized.jpg

Despite being passed almost uncut as an 'X' with only one minor cut to the use of the 'C' word Death Weekend has never been released on home video in the UK.

20210303_221253_resized.jpg

I don't know if this artwork for Death Weekend was used anywhere else but it almost looks like it designed to fit the UK quad landscape style.

20210303_221306_resized.jpg

The silhouettes of the men, house and car against the blue tinted image of the woman holding a knife/piece of glass (?) with blood on it is pretty cool and quite striking.

Here is an original UK quad for the controversial 'X' rated teen comedy Private Lessons that features pretty nice art. I think I picked this quad up for about 6 and it is in very good condition apart from those two tape marks along the top edge.

20210319_220924_resized.jpg

This quad is actually white rather than urine yellow, sorry for the bad lighting that makes it look like someone has peed over it.

20210319_220947_resized.jpg

A big emphasis on and a cheeky little plug for the soundtrack in the credits.

20210319_221004_resized.jpg

Cut by the BBFC to remove shots of an underage boy in sexual situations I have never seen Private Lessons and I never want to, even the artwork with the boy having to stand on schoolbooks because the woman is so much taller than him makes me feel a little uneasy... it might have helped a bit if she had taken her high heels off though.

'You Won't Believe what Goes On and what Comes Off' More Private Lessons! This time in a Private School! Here is my UK quad for the teen comedy double bill of Private School and Private Lessons.

20210322_221831_resized.jpg

Was originally an 'X' rated film Private Lessons switched to '18' after the introduction of the newer certificates.

20210322_221847_resized.jpg

The BBFC website is now utter crap and it's difficult to be sure but it lists Private School being rated as an '18' for cinema release in 1987 which seems very late for a double bill of films that were made in 1983 and 1981 respectively. It's almost impossible to know if the BBFC cut it or not because they removed much of that information.

20210322_221902_resized.jpg

Again some nice colourful artwork here and for about 10 this quad is in fantastic condition and was worth it.

20210322_221932_resized.jpg

The credits list 'Sylvia Kristel as the Sex Teacher' which is a cool description, Kristel being the obvious link between the two films I guess while Dan Greenburg wrote Private Lessons and co-wrote Private School. The soundtrack listing isn't quite as impressive as Private Lessons.

I watched Knives Out a few days ago, Christopher Plummer is in it and he was also in the crime thriller The Silent Partner and her is my original UK quad for it.

20210416_213339_resized_1.jpg

This is an OK quad but nothing amazing, at least it cost me less than a tenner and is in great condition.

20210416_213409_resized.jpg

Maybe a bit too much text and it's hardly catchy.

Here is my original UK quad for Roger & Me.

I do like the basic child like artwork for the UK release of Roger & Me (probably the easiest job this artist ever had) but what a strange looking quad, it gives us absolutely no clue about what this is or what to expect, a quick glance and you might think it was some sort of adult animation. Costing me only 3.75 this is one of the cheapest quads I have, great condition too.

20210507_233351_resized.jpg

Even all the quote from the nobody critics fail to get across that Roger & Me is in fact a documentary and the only reason I know that is because I just looked it up on the IMDb but way back in 1990 when this was shown theatrically here in the UK that would have been impossible. I have no idea what 'The story of a rebel & his mike' is even supposed to mean.

20210507_233410_resized.jpg

Just looking at this quad and not knowing anything else about Roger & Me I genuinely would have expected some sort of mid-life crisis comedy drama thing, even the quotes make it sound like that.
