Default Do you redeem your digital copy codes?

I never do. But sometimes I wonder if I should. On the one hand, I have the blu ray so why do I need a bunch of digital versions on a hard drive that I never touch?

But on the other hand, you never know if one day companies will go all in on streeeeaaaaming, and put an end to all purchasable media- digital copies included. In this case I would regret not backing up all my movies and tv shows.

What say you?

I redeem them, my son watches most stuff on his TV streaming through his xbox. I stream quite a bit unless I can really take advantage of the TV and Atmos, basically when the wife isn't trying to sleep! (Family room and our bedroom area have connecting walls)

I redeem some, mostly the stuff younger kids in my family would watch... but not many. I will never buy a digital only thing, but I do see how getting a bonus digital version would be convenient if you're away or just are being lazy about putting a movie in and then putting it back up lol

To be fair, unless you're doing the iTunes version and downloading it, it's just in the cloud not on a hard drive.

Wait... forgive my ignorance, but are all the codes redeemable on iTunes for downloadable copies?

iTunes lets you stream it (from the computer with iTunes, or the Apple phone/TV app) or download the ones you've redeemed or imported from MA, but they only play on stuff authorized for that iTunes account.

So you canít store them on your own hard drive then?

Nope. That is an entirely different process.

I redeem them. I liked the Bluray/DVD combo packs back in the day so I could watch anywhere (hotels and some places still don't have Bluray players). Now that streaming is surpassing DVD, codes are now my portable solution in their place.

redeem. I like being able to share the movies I have with my family so they can watch them whenever they please. Meanwhile, I use my awesome discs at home without having to have my family borrow my copies and potentially mess up the disc/packaging. Win win!

I sure could. I could also continue to give them to friends who don't have the funds to purchase as much physical media as I do, and take enjoyment out of the fact that they can watch films and TV shows with their families they otherwise wouldn't be able to watch.

I just give away the DVD copies in combo packs to family members or friends (plus Blu copies in UHD combo packs, if all of the extras are included on the UHD disc). Best of both worlds.

I do this as well, because I simply won't ever use them. I do keep the Blu-rays from the UHD sets due to the lack of a 4K UHD player at the office and because many Blu-rays still look better than their 4K UHD counterparts. For example, a few of Blue Underground's recent releases are plagued by shitty color grading whereas the 4K remastered Blu-ray versions of the same films don't come with those issues.

I don't get that many digital codes because I mostly buy from independent labels like VS, but when I do get them, I redeem them. I should start selling them though.

Since I started selling codes about nine years ago, I've made a couple THOUSAND dollars back, and that buys a whole lotta new movies, often with codes of their own... Trust me, they add up. I spent probably $250 on Black Friday purchases last year, and over half of that I got back in my Paypal account by selling the codes.
