Marantz AV8805

The Monolith looks intriguing on paper but they are keeping it somewhat tight lipped if they make it or if someone else does. If they do make it themselves, it would concern me that it is their first attempt at a high end processor, as it is a lot more complicated than building a sub. The other interesting thing to me is that they did not have it at Cedia recently (from what I have read) which is odd considering it is supposed to go on sale this month. I don’t know if that was strategic on their part of if there was some other reason.

I certainly am not regretting picking up the 8805, as it has easily been my favorite processor over the years compared to Yamaha, Onkyo, and other Denon / Marantz units I have owned.

No need. The 8805 is their flagship and has a much longer shelf life vs the rank n file. Also, it's getting an HDMI 2.1 upgrade in the spring (if one wants) which will turn the 8805 into an 8805A and keep it current.

Curious to know if other companies are using the right chipsets for this years 2021 receiver models?? Been wanting to get a new receiver for ages now and would like HDMI 2.1 features but last year's fiasco with the chipset delayed that. Hoping this year the features will actually work with the Xbox Series X!!

Get the Trinnov. It will compliment your new tv and HT nicely.😊

I have the 8802A still in box. Looking at 8805 possibly. Is the 8802A restricted to native DSU? Does the 8805 allow you to use non native upmixing?

It does allow it. I used Auro to upmix all native 5.1/7.1 content. On a very related note, I am selling an excellent condition 8805 as I recently upgraded to a 24 channel Storm Audio. I have all packaging and accessories. PM me if you are interested.
