I switched to digital from physical around mid of 2020. Easily one of the best move I have made after being strictly physical for 20 years. Still miss physical but sitting in front of my TV and spending several hours doing A-B between 4K physical and digital, I concluded that the difference is not big and worst case, it's like 10% which fades away once your viewing distance is reasonable. Audio wise, there is definitely some for improvement but video wise, it's damn close. Difference between 4K physical and digital is much less than 1080p physical V digital mainly on iTunes, MoviesAnywhere, Netflix and Disney+.
I am constantly updating the digital tech specs in my spreadsheet (link below): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing Lack of shelf space and a grumpy wife are key reasons behind going digital. ![]() |

![]() That is true and that was one of the jabs Vincent had with him. At one point Vincent started questioning if he was a real calibrator and posted that he couldn't find him listed ![]() I guess it's possible Vincent didn't know who he was but it seems hard to believe someone that entrenched into the calibrator/tv scene wouldn't know who he was as he was in all of those Value Electronic Shootout videos especially during the plasma days. Plus theres like a thousand threads all over the internet named "D-Nice" settings for this and that TV. |

We need more professional video calibrators in the world.
That or more Artificiel Intelligence in the TVs we're buying; with Automatic Video Calibration. Or they could start from the factories. |

Nothing against Vincent and his videos, as the more info the better. However, I get most of my info from reviews by D-nice and jrref and from the shootout videos from VE.

Or, NOT. We don't want or need "wars", boxing matches and all that other ridiculous heat. We're not children who need to have a fight in the playground to settle differences. We're fully grown adults. The language and invective around the whole thing was far more heated than the original disagreement - IMHO of course. I definitely don't want it to continue or be encouraged as if it's a good thing.

Quantum TV is not correct on most of what he says.

Not only that but he presents the information in a pretty poor way, cussing and things like that. I know it's his "Deadpool" like persona (probably to get ratings/views), but the way he does it would make one not take him seriously.
I also think Quantum and Vincent have 2 different audiences. Vincent is for the true tech person like ourselves while Quantum does it for the layman (although he tells the layman pretty poor advice). Being the professional that he is, I hope Vincent doesn't leave YouTube. His videos are informative and honestly keeps us up to date in the Audio/Video world. |

Quantum is a fraud. He's the type that fiddles around with settings nilly-willy, not a clue what he's doing, and then claims he's "calibrated" a TV.
It's fine to not have the technical skill/knowledge - I don't, either - but then you shouldn't falsely claim to be a professional calibrator. I don't know how to perform heart surgery, so I don't claim to be a heart surgeon. I'm not a marine biologist, so I don't call myself a marine biologist. And so on. |
