Today was basically a 'Star Wars' day. I may splurge for the 10 inch Babu Frick.

Got a few teases of other stuff....Red Catsuit 'Oops I did It Again' Britney is a lock for me.

Also, unsure the price, but the make a Pop of yourself seems like a sweet idea. But assuming they make a new mold just for you, I'm guessing it won't be cheap.

Today was a good day. Ordered Metallic Kimono Luffy, 4th Gear Luffy, and the AAA exclusive Kakashi. The commons can be ordered later so I'll wait lol.

Today(Anime) and tomorrow(Sports) will likely be the worst of the days of announcements for me. Not likely I would need anything from that. I was checking the Funko Pop Hunters facebook page all day yesterday. Didn't once today.

Saturday(movies) is the main day I will be watching for.

The Bakugan monsters (if that's the correct term for them, I never watched it) were cool though.

They must have already run out of games to announce, because they just revealed funko sodas for The Jettsons, Quisp, Rocky and Bullwinkle, and Ghostbusters. Totally in line with today's theme of "Sports and Games" lmfao.

I think some stuff is just put out there if it doesn't fall into one of the themes. Cause all the MUSIC stuff will be on DC DAY now.

This Funko Fair has been a total snoozer. It's pretty bad when half of Marvel Day are pops that are already on shelves. Yikes.

Leaks of the first wave of His Dark Materials looks good - though only 4 characters/outfits are pictured so hopefully the full reveal will show more than that!

Second wave of Umbrella Academy looks terrific - cult leader Klaus will be the best-seller. No Lila or the Handler in this wave, unfortunately. But certainly you will find one or two must-haves.

Wouldn't surprise me if they only have 4, since those are the 4 main characters for the first book (to me Will doesn't count, I still think it's a weird angle to introduce him in season 1

because he isn't introduced until book 2)... the only other one they should do is Iorek and Serafina.

They do look nice and you can tell who they're meant to be unlike some Pops, but something about the casting choices/performances just never really totally clicked with me.

The tv series also included some prequel material from the recent The Book of Dust book, too, or so I hear - it is still in my “to read” pile.

I’ve only seen season 1, since season 2 is not widely available yet (if at all?), but I’ve been most impressed by the acting of the girl who plays Lyra, and James MacAvoy. He’s ok in the X-Men films but here he really impresses, perhaps because he is playing a character with a more realistic backstory. Similarly, Dafne Keen did not register at all in Logan, but here her acting talent is on a whole ‘nother level.

The definitive Ms Coulter for me will always be Nicole Kidman, but the tv one is good. I need to watch the film version again to better compare.

I also like the Hamilton actor, but his version of the aeronaut is written or played in a more affable way than I expected. Perhaps the tv show writers felt it was important that Lyra be the toughest one of the ensemble. But I’m not sure his character is working, yet. Maybe they’ll depart from the books in other ways with his character, too. That might be nice.

Anyway about Pops, I agree it is too early to make Will, and even Sarafina can wait until season 2. Perhaps they want to save Iorek for how he will look in season 2 as well. Or maybe they’ll make a Pop Ride if these sell well!

But for now, I’m hoping there are some alternate-outfit Lyras coming as retailer exclusives or something. The winter hat and coat in this first Funko figure is a small part of the show - she only wore that after heading north - and frankly I just hate the winter time so I’d rather see her earlier outfit. Checking Google, and remembering how the books go, I suppose Funko felt that the first wave might be the best time to do the winter outfit, since she won’t be wearing it in season 2.

If they make Lyra without the hat, I hope they paint the scar on her forehead - which might not be part of the character but it is noticeable and a good distinguishing mark, like Indiana Jones’ chin-scar. I like to imagine that Lyra picked it up during a scrape at Jordan College.
