Interesting that more were sent in standard mailers, seems BAKA's copy was one of the few in normal steelbook packing.
Maybe something to do with Amazon having to get more stock (mine was sent Weds and arrived Friday, so presume that was new stock). Anyway, pleased with this release - great cover and an enjoyable film from a simpler time ![]() |

No DNR at all by the look of it. The issues seem to stem from compression - restored Techniscope needs a bit more than it was allowed on a disc packed with HD material. It does look a bit weird though. It resolves as a weird shifting pattern in the grain doesn't it as the encoder is struggling to resolve it all at the bitrate allowed.

To be honest, I only really found obvious issues in the first segment which seemed the most grain-intense. I described it as blocky, where you can just tell it's not all resolved well so you see more the movement of chunks of grain rather than a natural field movement. Even still, I wouldn't say it was distracting.
Personally, once I got to the more well-lit and bold-coloured segments, with Lee and Sutherland especially I thought it looked great. |

expecting some new announcements soon, here's some FB posts
sept2015 This has probably been asked dozens of times, but do Odeon have any plans to release Pete Walker's THE FLESH AND BLOOD SHOW, FRIGHTMARE and THE COMEBACK on Blu ray? We'll definitely release The flesh and blood show and Frightmare on Bluray by Autumn next year oct2015 Anyone know if there are plans to release further Pete Walker films? We are gradually working through HD remastering on almost all Pete Walker films and updating some existing HD masters from the US. Die Screaming Marianne is next on the list for Spring 2016. dec2015 and we will be announcing some exciting release news in January for the first half of 2016! feb2016 Is it true that Screenbound will be releasing a Blu of SATAN'S SLAVES? I heard a rumor about this but wasn't sure if the source was correct. Thanks! Happy to say it's in the planning process! Just assessing the negatives next month and then looking at new extras ![]() [Show spoiler]

Be nice if we got a few of Norman J Warren's output from Screenbound. Hopefully they can get their hands on Inseminoid and Terror (unless Arrow beat them to the punch).

News of new releases is all great and that, but is anyone else has annoyed as me they've just brushed the issues with Dr Terror's House of Horrors under the carpet? Not even an apology, they left it on some very terse words from Alan Byron on Facebook along the lines of (and I'm paraphrasing from memory) they're releasing it so they can grade and sound mix how they please...
![]() I repeat. Not even an apology. People buying niche releases can sympathise with tight budgets, but not what appears to be a totally uncaring attitude towards the fans. If Screenbound don't listen to their fans with genuine grievances about their releases (and concerns about the yellow-biased grades by Pinewood across many of their releases too which are being shrugged off without any satisfactory explanation. If there's a reason that holds water, tell us then everyone can move on!), then they've probably plateaued and won't get any better. ![]() Don't get me wrong, I love what they're doing and the sort of genre cinema they release. Which is probably why this is still eating at me. I had similar concerns about Arrow a few years ago, and look what happened there when they listened. Dwindling physical media sales make a good relationship with the core customer base all the more important. Worst that could happen is people don't pre-order future restorations, then they'll stop. Like the Hammer Blu-rays from Studiocanal, where fans were understandably wary after several errors and mistakes of judgement and they've ended up being cancelled. btw not having a dig just trying to discuss
ok so you were upset by Dr Terror's then you mention similar concern's with Arrow a few year's ago, and say look what happened when they listened, have you seen the Hellraiser, Shivers and Deep Red thread's ![]() even Arrow are not Perfect Screenbound haven't released many Blu-rays, and look how long it took for Arrow to sort themselves out, and they're still making mistakes so I would say, they, like every label have some QC problems, but hopefully they get better with more releases and experience |

One of the biggest problems though isn't just the QC, it's the denial of any issues and disdain to the customers. Like odd box said, at least an apology would have helped. Getting back to the QC though, Arrow had released DVD's before but nowhere near on the scale that Odeon had. A new format shouldn't have any bearing on something like the mistakes on Dr Terror's being caught. I was a big supporter of their releases. They seem to have a lack of (or want of) review PR which means a customer has to put extra faith in them but I suggest that's something else they fix as I'm a bit less willing now to dive in. |

Thanks theblob, that's the nail in the head. The restoration mistakes are unfortunate but it's the lack of admittance that's the big deal for me. What's to put customers minds at rest that any effort will be taken to prevent it happening again?

although the response doesn't mention the missing scream or missing music http://dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=34516 [Show spoiler] so I take it you don't agree with what they said ? and did the original theatrical version have the missing scene ? and/or previous DVD release ? |
