Why didn't Sony make the PlayStation Classic better?

I think nearly everyone could say what games they were expecting on the mini-console, and if it had to be narrowed down to 20, it would still have been better than what we got. Really bizarre, cheap and quick cash in.

Sony's PlayStation Classic could've been great, but its lack of "classic" games, its price, and its poor use of a popular and free emulator is what ultimately led to its middling sales outside of Japan.

That being said, hacking it to turn it into a an official Sony emulator machine for the TV isn't the worst use even if the performance isn't the best. Also makes for a neat Raspberry Pi shell.

Sony didn't seem all that interested in this from the start and may have allocated it a small budget and handed it off to a small team. Let's see what the rumored Spartacus offers...
