I'm playing Far Cry 6 right now on PC, and I've had to take it offline because the stupid UBISoft launcher for some reason makes the game play all jittery on my PC when it is online. It's the one glitch I've had with that game. I also played Cyberpunk offline.
That's good to hear. Thanks.

For your newer PC gaming, do your games load within the range of a PS5's 2 seconds for new levels or maps to begin play? If so, then that's great. I'm just thinking of my gaming on computers years ago, and all the waiting there was for the games to load.

The Borderland games requires it and worse, they spam with ads at the start of the games. If I could disable that crap I would.

I got it free so I guess I am getting what I paid for.

I replayed 1 & 2 recently on Steam, and I was able to play them offline. I haven't played 3 yet so I'm not sure about that one.

I haven't gotten my hands on a PS5 yet so I can't really compare. That said, I've never really had issues with PC load times, and save games are generally quick to load, but I haven't really timed them. The PS5 could be faster, but I have no way to gauge it.

My build of course is the fastest I've had. If I can use Far Cry 6 as an example for map loading, when I fast travel it's like closing my eyes for a sec and opening them, and scenery/objects render almost instantly. I say almost because it does that fade-in effect (not sure what that's called).

That would depend on your system and the type of drive you have (i.e. Mechanical HDD, SATA SSD or M.2 SSD). I have a PCIe M.2 SSD that I install my games on and Far Cry 6 loads within a matter of seconds. But if you are using a slower drive chances are the load times would be longer. The PS5 uses an M.2 drive, so that and the optimization is what allows the PS5 to load so fast.

So this game still suck or has it improved (I base this on discussions I saw when it first came out)?

I'm still half way through Fallout 4 (stopped playing for a couple years - but intend to finish it this Winter)...

Evidently I edited out the SSD thing in my post as I know I typed something about it lol. But yeah, that's the kicker right there. My first SSD upgrade (Samsung 850 EVO) was just a hard drive only upgrade, and at the time my CPU had gotten long in the tooth, but still the SSD made a night and day difference. My Windows score (or whatever they called it when it was still significant) shot up like 4 points and was in the 9/10 range.

It's way better than when it was first released. It's also cheap to get for the PS4.

Are you writing about before or after BL3? A new 'shift' system was implemented on BL2 to advertise BL3.

I was in the middle of BL2 when BL3 released. I finished it up October 2019 according to Steam, a few weeks after BL3 was released. I didn't get any annoying BS, so maybe it happened some time after.

But not that it matters really, it was originally or at least at one point an offline-playable game up until this change, which is really the only point I was trying to make.

What's frustrating after all these years of not playing Fallout 76 is they never included an offline mode, despite them offering a solo player mode online. They want gamers to cash in on microsales is what the real underlying problem is. Especially for a solo played game session with no other online players from what I heard. Same problem with Division 2 online solo mode.

I gave it a try for a little bit and played mostly solo, mostly out of love for Fallout. The PvP mechanic - which at the time was supposed to make it so that if you didn't want to engage if attacked - was supposed to make you highly, although not completely, resistant to damage unless you counter-attack.

I had fun, up until said mechanic didn't seem to work and I got demolished in no time by two high-level jack-asses with hammers.

That's strange, did you specifically have "pacifist" mode on in the settings? If you don't have that on, usually it will be they do a small amount of damage to you (almost like an invitation to fight), and if you shoot back, it switches to full damage. Whereas pacifist mode you shouldn't have any damage to you at all and you can't do any damage back.

Main exception being workshops; if you try to claim one that's already claimed (or...if someone tries to claim one that you have) it IMMEDIATELY goes into full PVP regardless if you have pacifist mode on or not.

I'm pretty sure I did because I remember reading about that and setting it, but it may have taken longer than what I said for them to take me out. And now that I think about it, the problem was I couldn't outrun them for whatever reason (they were way higher level than me, not sure if that was why). I also couldn't fast travel out of there because the game treats that as combat, or at least it did at the time. They eventually caught me and hacked away. And it definitely wasn't a workshop because I was roaming at the time. I remember just giving up at that point.

I don't know why I didn't think about it at the time, but I probably should have just Alt+F4 out of the game lol.
