Yes, OABs often take 8-10 months from their announcement until getting close to their release. For instance, Jurassic World 2 was announced in August of last year, and the GB is only just happening this month. When Spectre came out, it was an entire year from the announcement date before it was in anybody's hands. This release is so far off still.

Can’t wait! I got my 4K/3D SB in and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I had the opportunity to see this in Dolby Cinema 3D (three times, actually) and my ONLY disappointment is that the Dolby Cinema 3D provided significantly superior PQ and 3D. It was like watching a true 4K UHD Blu-Ray in terms of color, speculation highlights, fine detail but in 3D. It allowed me to see what COULD have been if 3D had been included when the 4K UHD format was being finalized. This presentation floored me the way Avatar 3D did the first time I saw it in threats many millenniums ago. I normally prefer to watch 3D at home bc so few theaters are concerned with providing superior PQ, the experience is often subpar.

The only other 3D theater experience that left such a big impression on me were the HFR 3D showings of the hobbit films.

It was truly the most engaging and immersive theater experiences I had. I was told Alita in Dolby 3D was a trial run and the 3D glasses themselves were so costly, we were required to check them in snd out with an actual dedicated representative with a photo ID and were required to sign a document stating that we agreed to pay for any pair of glasses not returned.

It showed me that 4K UHD 3D could and should be developed would definitely be THE premium format for folks seeking the most immersive, beautifully detailed, masterfully colors and life-like contrast available for those who care about PQ. And those who have no appreciation or regard can continue to buy DVD’s and cheap tickets for regular screenings at the theater.
