I had a look recently at a new review added to Hysteria-Lives, of X (the reviews end with

[Show spoiler]a list of how characters are bumped off in a film).

I'm leaning now more towards seeing X, and if I like it and it's a similar, positive viewing experience like the first film in the Halloween trilogy, I'll wait for a likely, eventual Blu-ray release of the trilogy (X, Pearl and the new film).

Yeah, a few people are doing the same from what I have read. Hopefully, Maxxxine will be equally well received. More Mia Goth is a great thing.

Had to bite on 13.99. I didn't love X and honestly kinda struggled with why people thought it was so good. It was competent though and I did like Mia Goth so I'm down for a blind buy to see more of her.

And of course, since I bought it, a 4K release is inevitable.

A24 usually only deal with domestic distribution (only exceptions seem to be EEAAO and The Whale at the moment). They sold the rights to X to Entertainment on Film here in the UK but obviously due to the hidden nature of the prequel they didn’t give them rights for that (the after credits teaser was missing in the UK cut). X obviously didn’t end up being the sleeper hit that EOF hoped for so they passed down the opportunity for the prequel which means it’s been hanging in limbo for half a year.

For the looks of it, Universal have struck a bit of a deal having this and Marcel the Shell with Shoes On being released next month as well. But A24 releases usually come with the caveat that it’s pot luck when they come out here. From the looks of it, Beau is Afraid seems to be the next victim without any UK distributor attached at the moment.

I doubt it, discs come out quicker these days. My estimates were conservative but maybe July at latest? At least we will more than likely get a Blu as it’s Universal.

Its good its universal they also do extras and always put subtitles on their releases.

Checked the Odeon cinema chain's website earlier, and to my sort-of disappointment (although I kind of expected it as I haven't seen any, or much at all, promotion for the UK cinema release of Pearl), have looked at next Monday to Wednesday, and my local cinema is only doing one screening of Pearl on each of those example days, and the screen start time is a bit late for me (if it had been a couple of hours earlier, I might have bitten and gone to see the film).

Probably a fast turnaround for a Blu-Ray. Or even better, a 4K disc.
