X is said to have cost $1 million and made $14 million and if that $1 million included the budget of Pearl, then they already made their money back. Everything Everywhere All at Once just made $100 million on a budget of $25 million, then that goes into money for other movies.

It’s easy to make money on movies when they don’t cost $100+ million and need to make about 3 times that much to be profitable.

Investors with deep pockets. They have been for sale since last year. Does not seem like anyone has bit yet.

By making cheap-assed movies. X cost $1 million and grossed $14 mil.

I think it was 1 million budget for each film.

It blows my mind both:

a) how X was a million since it looked like was a lot more than that.

b) how Everything Everywhere All At Once cost that much since most of the visual effects were done by "5 guys in their bedrooms" according to them. (I'm sure there was alot more than that number involved)

A24 also has a strong television division including HBO's Euphoria, Mo on Netflix, and Ramy on Hulu. They've produced around 30 TV series and specials.

5 guys in a room could get it done, since they knew what they were doing and had time. Filming ended in 2020, and came out in 2022.

Totally fair. I'm just saying how could the film cost $25 million. It looked great on screen but the effects seemed like something that could have been done with 1/5 the budget.

A huge poster of the finger to lip moment from this and X side by side would be awesome.

I liked X but didn’t love it. Maybe after a rewatch of X up I’ll like it more. This looks great though and I can’t wait for it to come out.

Just watched X again, and it didn’t have the post credits scene. Was the scene just the trailer for Pearl?

A teaser for Pearl. It only appeared in US theatrical showings of X and its A24 virtual screening.

My sister and I sat there like a couple of lemons waiting for a post credit scene that never came. The staff joked that they respected people getting their moneys worth!

Should be a sequel.

Now I wonder if Tail is just code or lingo or something.

Or if that's the title of the next one.
