And since only one other member (TEE) besides myself own these, I guess a thread isn't warranted for one of the original high fidelity speaker brands.........

It'll be a lonely place

What do ya think ?

You can't be too lonely with those speakers, Sonus Fabers are beautiful.
I have my eye on the Guarneri Mementos, if I ever decide to upgrade my Dalis... Just have to convince myself that it's worth it.

Hi Russ,

It is unfortunate that this long lived, respected, and revered brand of speakers has not been in production for some time. Unfortunately it is the sign of the times and there are quite a number of well known, well respected brands of speakers and other audio equipment that are no more.

It is indeed. Companies like Celestion and their wonderful Ditton line come to mind. Altec Lansing and their Model X's and Stonehenge speakers are another.

I always fantasized about owning a pair of Altec model 14's and my all time favorites Dahlquist DQ 10's (powered with some GAS amps)

It also seems the audio enthusiast / audiophile is becoming a dying breed too . When the Masses are just satisfied with digital files (Mp3's) and ear buds

These are some sad times..... indeed

Not this guy. This guy is in the process of replacing thousands of heavily compressed mp3s. I'd say at least 2/3s of my 30,000 plus song music server collection is lossless. I'll be getting into vinyl later this year also. Mp3s and headphones don't work for me. I wasn't much of a music guy till this past year. The right kind of speakers can change a person's way of thinking dramatically.

Russ do those mirrors create significant audible reflections--I can see the visible reflections.

Ever thought about a different wall treatment?

Don't feel too lonely. I have 10 gauge AR speaker wires. When I was in college in the 1800s , half the people had AR speakers.

Make sure you adjust the level of each speaker and subwoofer first with an SPL meter and then run the calibration program.

I am just splitting the front's signal for the Height speakers. Should I have them both on when I adjust them or unhook the Height speakers?

It is best to adjust the level of each set of speakers first and then adjust the level of both sets combined. Speakers have different sensitivities and some sound louder. In addition, the position of the speaker in the room and its interaction with the surroundings can make a difference. It is not unusual for the level of identical speakers to be different, depending on their position in the room.

In my situation, all my amplifiers, including the Cinepro 6-channel amp, have level adjustments. That makes the job a little easier.

Thanks for your input Big Daddy. I will do just that when I have it all put back together.

I'm in the midst of an acoustic treatment (planing stage) for the room. And my friends (read females) just love the mirrors (of course ) so they'll stay. And since they're behind the fronts they don't cause the major reflections. It's the back wall that creates the primary reflections . So I'm looking at ATS panels and some bass traps along with a nice area rug.

Stay tuned...

It is done. If you own Yamaha speakers, please do a quick review. Don't forget to post some pictures.
