Is this a good set? It's just so expensive to get the pieces separately, but is that really the way to go?

And how do the speaker wires hook up...I have a Klipsch HDT 1000 now which is pretty good. I just have to make sure I get a receiver that fits with the speaker wire hookups for this second set.
Energy or Mirage would be a great start, I'm glad I still have my Sound Dynamics (now Mirage and Energy) speakers, sub, center and rears they made the best stuff, it's to bad they are made offshore and not still made in Toronto like the Sound Dynamics...

Thanks for the vote of confidence Seems like a solid set, now just to find a receiver.

Default Just arrived

I'm breaking in my new Energy speakers as I type this message. My oder arrived from Amazon within 2 days with free super saver shipping. So far I'm liking my new Energy Classic 5.1 system. I'll be using Polks for my front speakers and the 5.1 to maximize me to 7.1. Now my Polk sub is in hiding until I get a new reciever someday and go 7.2.

Congrats and welcome to the Energy family. They should improve over time, I know my RC's did.

Thanks all for your votes of confidence. I originallly was going to buy a different set but then I saw these. I did a little research and the reviews were great. I've never heard of this brand before but I'm happy I pulled the trigger.

I bought the all in one Energy bar with bult in subwoofer and I'm extremely disappointed with it so far, after hearing how great the company is, and the great reviews for this product.

http://www.energy-speakers.com/home-...=POWER-BAR-ONE

When it's in normal mode. Shouldn't it play in stereo? I only get audio from the far right speaker which really sounds awful since it's not centered. When 3D mode is turned on, I get a fake 'stereo' effect that's faint and echoes from the left speaker, while the majority of the audio comes from the right at full volume. Again, it does not sound normal at all and is annoying. I tried sampling movies and even music channels to test out the audio, and it really sounded bad to my ears in 3d mode, and while 'better' in 'normal' mode, it was still only mono audio basically and not centered either, which is distracting.

Does anyone have experience with this system and issue? Is that how it's made to push people to use 3d mode only despite not sounding normal?

The company is off for the holiday weekend. So I can't call them, but did send an email. Any information would be appreciated.

Also I bought it brand new from a seller on Ebay, and no returns are allowed. However, I still contacted the seller to see if they'd allow it for defective products.

It does sound like it is defective. Like one channel is not working. You could try and narrow it down a bit by switching the left and right and see if it switches sides. I guess I should ask first, how are you connecting to the sound bar? What equipment are you using?

I connected it through the digital optical jack, and even tried the supplied analog cords which only hook up through the headphone jack and got the same result.

The seller so far isn't offering a return and refund, and just said they'll contact past buyers, to see what their systems sound like and research the system more. It's really going to suck if I can't get this thing working properly and am unable to return it.

I wonder if Ebay would still allow me to file a complaint through the resolution center about receiving a defective product? I won't do that just yet, as I'll attempt to test the sound bar a bit more and try some things. But if I can't get it working correctly, I'd want my money back.

Update: I tested it and the left channel has to be out/defective since it won't respond when I plug in the white cord, and even when plugging that cord into the red input, no audio is heard. Meanwhile the red cord works on both inputs. However the 3d effect is sending the mono signal slightly to the other channel with a faint echo. Also I tried an extra set of analog cords that work, just to make sure it wasn't a faulty wire, and the white cord got no response from either channel, while the red cord did.

And through the optical output, it's one right channel audio instead of normal 2 channel stereo. I'm not a fan of fake 3d surround, since it never sounds good in my opinion. So a nice stereo 2.1 presentation is just right for myself, and I wish this sound bar worked properly.

Default Front off Energy C9s

Hi People
On a whim I bought a pair(cheap) of damaged Energy C9s
with the idea that it would sort of fun to try to fix them.
But at first glance--or even second--I do not see how to
get the front panel off to get access to the drivers.
Anyone know the trick here? Do the little magnetic fasteners
that hold the grilles on unscrew?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Robert

OK, I think I understand but wanted to confirm. You are using red and white Rica cables and connecting them from your CD or DVD player to the sound. Please confirm that you have tried the following.
Player to sound bar(SB) using Rica cables connected normally. Then on the SB side switch the connections from left to right, to right to left. Said differently white and red to red then white. Does the sound move with the connections? If the sound moves left to right or vice versa it is probably the player. Try a different player. Something with rca out. If the sound only comes in through right side and regardless of what is plugged into the left side then something is wrong with the SB. Please check that and let us know.

I did just that. I also tested the rca cable on the iLive sound bar in the living room which can only be hooked up through the rca jacks. And both red and white cords worked in each input, and only gave mono audio when one cord was plugged in on either side, then normal stereo when both cords were plugged in. So I know the iLive bar is working properly. But the new Energy bar certainly has a defect.

Because you stated the above it sounds like you have an issue with your player. Maybe there is some conflicting info.

You have used TWO different DVD/Blu-ray/CD players on the SB? Sounds like when you connected the iLive SB it was in a different room? Maybe a different player.

If you have used two different sets of cables and two different players and sound will only come out of the Right side and not the left (Regardless of which color is plugged into the SB inputs) when in normal stereo mode= issue with SB.

If you have used two different sets of cables and one player. Sound will come out of the Right or left sides (but not both) when you switch the connection on the SB side when in normal stereo mode= issue with player (maybe but probably not SB. Need to use another player to test.)

By the way, is your name a reference to the Mozart Opera piece from the Magic Flute? Like Queen of the Night? If so, Awesome reference!

Thanks. I do like classical music, among other genres, rock being my favorite. And that is a great piece of music.

But I came up with the name since I take being a foxy lady literally and think it fits my personality.

and I'd love a costume that looks like this to wear for fun sometime.

update: The seller is being rude and accusing me of not hooking up the sound bar correctly and 'breaking' it myself as his excuse to not offer a return and refund. I opened a case with Ebay though, and will see how that goes. But I have some good news. Energy finally replied to my email I sent when I first noticed the problem, and said they could offer an exchange. I'm still waiting to hear back from them and see whether they accept it or not. But at least it's something positive out of all this.

Default Looking for input on veritas line

Hey everyone,

So I am looking to pick up some new speakers and I'm considering the veritas v-s or the v-5.1 to be used as surrounds. Right now I have the CF 30s and the V5.2 up front and CB5s as rears. I'm leaning toward the V-S 3 way for surrounds, then move the CB5s to the rears. However, I'm starting to think maybe I should pick up the v-5.1 since it is such a quality speaker. What would you guys recommend?

Also, is the V-5.1 a better speaker than the CF30? Would there be any merit to picking up the v-5.1s to use up front paired with the V5.2 and moving the CF30s to the sides? Then, possibly pick up the v6.3 towers in the future.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Joe

Joe there is a lot of thought behind that, First of let' just say the Veritas are so far superior to the CF-30 that for me it's a no brainer if you wish to pickup the 5.1 as fronts and move on to the veritas towers in the future, your setup would benefit from it but my question is how much music do you listen too?

If you say 40% or more than you are really going to get all the benefit from the Veritas line.

The CF are no slouch but the Veritas are that much better, better dynamic range and more depth. overall the Veritas is much better speaker, I think Audiovox wants to phase them out as the Veritas does not fall into the market they are looking for with the Energy line, a lot of changes has happened since Audiovox bought Klipsch group.

I would say get the 5.1 so you could either use them as surrounds and or fronts, that way you have some flexibility. Then you dcide wheter you want to go for the Veritas towers.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the reply, Al.

Let me pose one more question. What would you do given these prices?

2X V5.1 @ ~$550
2x V.5.2C @ ~$650

Would the extra $100 be worth it going to the V5.2C and using it on its side? Would you think they would perform better than the V5.1 given the extra woofer?

Then again, this is a slippery slope because the V6.2 can be had for ~$900.

I guess I'm just trying to figure out if it would be worth spending the extra $100 to $350, given I'll be spending $550 minimum. I would love the V6.3 but at $1600 that is too pricey for now.

Overall, I do know that I want to stick with the Veritas line. When I first connected my V5.2c, it was almost obscene how much better it was than my old polk center for only $150 more. So clear, not harsh to me at all. The detail is for music and movies is simply incredible.
