If i cant find a cc-10 could it be possible to use somthing like the SVS Prime center?

Was Hopefully planning on just adding a new center channel and 2 bookshelves.. just cant decide on the brand lol

Better match fronts as they are tonally identical or at least super close, not that SVS is not good if you go SVS Prime then get SVS Prime speakers as your fronts. You will get seamless transition across front soundstage.

Matching surrounds is not as important.

Are you looking to get a sub?

Budget for the sub?
Just got 'em today, so I haven't had a chance to let them loose yet. 75% HT, 25% music. I'll eventually pickup a sub, budget for the sub is gonna be around $200 when I eventually get to it. One piece at a time. Going to run a 3.0 setup for a while to get a feel for the Energy's, and then put my Pioneer BS-21's in the rear to see what I get - probably a crummy timbre match.

I can see myself picking up a pair of Energy towers and moving my CB-20's to the rear - then upgrading my AVR to something will drive the towers better, and then picking up a sub that is WAY overboard for what I really need, but will make The Hulk seem like he's putting a hole in my wall.

Haven't even started on display upgrades yet!

Look for a sub, i think if you could stretch the budget to $299, I would watch out for special on this guy as this sub would seriously outperform anything in its own price range, HSU sales direct and this sub would definitely retail at $499 if it was sold in store.
Then if you can't afford it, BIC America makes decent subs for their price point that fits directly in your budget.

Oh and btw let us all know how you like the new speakers one you have them setup, give them a good 50 hours to start sounding their best.

Default Newbie, Take 1 owner, need help with wiring for center speaker

First off, it's good to be here with like-minded folk. Energy is a good speaker, and my Take 1 5.1 was a good value and has provided a lot of enjoyment.

But my speaker 'face plate' fell off after years of service, and pulled the 4 connecting wires loose from their speaker mounts. So now I have loose white, black, red and blue wires, and three speakers - two mid-range and one tweeter - with two connectors each, so I have several possible correct combinations.

The two midrange speakers are already joined by a white connecting wire, so I figure that's where the white wire goes.

I have attached a pic, not sure how clear the options can be seen. I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Bill

Been thinking about changing my mains, right now I have C2 bookshelfs, I have found a pair of C5 towers. Wondering if there would be a sound difference between the two? I have an Atmos 7.1.4 setup with my mains & center crossover on the avr set at 100hz.

More than likely and you could certainly easily x-over them at 80hz as per recommendation but just wondering if room correction would set the x-over higher than 80hz in your room.

If you have the space i say why not.

Do any of you guys know the status of Energy speakers? Have they been discontinued completely?

Last year, I purchased two pairs of CB-20's from Newegg on clearance and ever since then, Newegg no longer sells any Energy speakers directly. I only see them sold from third-party sellers on sites like Newegg and Amazon.

I used to see them from time to time on other major retailers like Crutchfield and Best Buy, too, but it appears they are all gone.

That said, I love the hell out of my CB-20's. I purchased them for $132 per pair and use three of them for my front soundstage. They sound unbelievable paired with my Yamaha receiver and Emotiva XPA-5. I bought them as a blind-buy after seeing all the reviews online and reading this thread. Best $264 I ever spent on four bookshelf speakers.

Indeed they were terrific speaker for the price you paid you could hardly find better than that but all that being said, Klipsch who owned Energy speaker has been boaught out a while back by Audivox and so was Jamo and since not much has happened at Energy, even their new Flagship that had just come out went on clearance which is a shame since the Veritas line was truly a really nice speaker and deserved much better. No t sure what will happen with Energy now.

Ah, that's a shame. I was hoping to pick up some Veritas V-5.1's sometime if they were still available. Hopefully Energy might come back but it isn't looking like they will any time soon. Thanks for the information. I had no idea all these transactions had taken place.

Thanks, I was thinking I may hear a sound difference between the 2 series. I think the last time I ran the room correction it set the mains at about 80 or 90hz. I bumped it to 100, sounded better.

If anyone is in need of a basic 5.1 sound system, Newegg has the Energy Take Classic 5.1 set in stock and is selling it for $300. I haven't seen these for sale in a long time.

I decided to purchase a set for my office. I'm buying these sight unseen (hearing unheard?) as I have read many positive reviews for this set.

The purchase limit is only 20 per customer.

Nice find on those Veritas 6.3's. They look beautiful. I love that red color. Did you have to wear gloves when setting them up? They look like they are fingerprint magnets! I remember reading an Audioholics review of a set of black Veritas 6.3's and they came with white cloth gloves.

Thanks! They definitely do attract fingerprints, in rosenut finish not too bad though. I have C2's in piano and they are way worse for prints. These sound absolutely phenomenal!! Crisp and clean.
