Default How big is your digital collection?

Kinda curious how big is your digital collection.

My collection is mostly in flac format with some hi res included. I have just about 1.1Tb. My categories are mostly

Rock (not including alt., metal etc.) 40%
Prog 20%
Jazz 15%

Etc.

I think mine is about 1/2 a TB in flac only. I do have a substantial number of MP3's on another PC, but I need to bring it in to recover the data (one day).

I'm probably close to the numbers you posted for genres, although I haven't checked. Lately I've been in a real Prog mode and Classical as well.

I'm enjoying them and for the money they are certainly well worth it.

I was going through my collection to realize classical is highly lacking. Any basic must have classical, overtures or symphonies mostly?

I'm no expert or even slightly knowledgeable about things Classical, but yes, symphonies are easily at the top of the list as we've all heard them through the years. I have several compilation discs that are a good way into the genre. Unfortunately most of my classical music is on vinyl, so I don't get to enjoy them as conveniently as I would like.

Beethoven's 9 symphony's is probably a great start. Do you prefer the older Mozart /Bach or more romantic Tchaikovsky( Nutcracker) or more modern like Copland( Rodeo)?

I have somewhere in the ballpark of 1.1TB of music, which is a mix of everything.

Also have all our blu-rays on the NAS, which are currently taking up 5TB of its space.

I am a classical nut. The genre is very large in terms of what you can hear. Cool thing about it, is if you listen close to today's music, you can hear that it has been influenced by classical music greats of the past.

Check this book out, it is a great reference to start you on classical music.

I won't say memory size, instead I will give actual song count:

11419 songs in mp3 + hundreds of CDs (not part of the mp3 count)

Hey Jim, sorry for the late reply I was without a PC for a bit. I do have pretty much all of Beethoven's Symphonies and I guess all the standards. I do enjoy the Russians a lot, love their passion.

I should of been clearer as I do have a good basic collection and enjoy Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Wagner and Gregorian etc.

Was looking for something less known though
