Using your receivers DAC or an outboard DAC

At one time, I wanted an outboard DAC, due to questions about hdmi jitter. Now I've done some investigating concerning my Receivers DAC and it's ability to reduce jitter. I've always been pleased with the sound coming from my PC via hdmi, it's not harsh, it's rather warm (and that's a big statement coming from someone with Klipsch Heresy speakers), musical and life-like. Have any of you considered the DAC section of your receiver?

I run pretty much everything digital in my Denon and use it's DACs for conversion to analog. I'm quite pleased with the sound, though I wouldn't mind owning a receiver that's more musical than the Denon I'm still happy with it's DACs.

For my PC setup I was at one point considering an outboard DAC but installed my old faithful E-Mu sound card that has a very good DAC and run it's analog out to my vintage H/K and love the quality audio I'm getting.

Is it the E-Mu 0204? That's a decent DAC indeed.

It's its older sibling the 0404. And yes it does pretty good, enough for the quality of my equipment anyways.

The new Pioneer Elite SC-68 includes a 32bit-192khz asynchronous USB DAC. That's a prize for people into computer audio!!!

I was lucky enough to be able to compare my external dac to the one in my Integra, both on its own and thru my Naim Nait, and personally, I like the external DAC better then whats in the Integra. The Integra is nice and its warm, but the rDAC offers a little better resolution and a livlier presentation that I prefer more. I also compared the DAC to the one in the Sony, the Sony was a lot more laidback and less detailed.
