Haven't checked this thread in a minute!!!! Badas, NICE piece of work you got going there!!!!!
After all of my opamp rolling - I wanted to face off against a good receiver again, so as fate would have it, I actually have my HT-RC180 back in the house. I've been running it against my sound card to see if my opinions have changed. I first ran my HT-RC180 via HDMI to see if I liked it. One thing I learned - I like doing my own EQ over Audyssey Multi EQ (MathAudio is much better in this regard, XT may be another story though). I finally got some decent sound out of the HDMI connection, but the difference is like night and day between the two. Even with the Asus Essence connected to the receiver via analog cables (Essence doing all of the D/A) it kills the Onkyo doing D/A over HDMI. However - we know that Essence is totally tricked out - it has a better D/A PCM1792A vs the Onkyo PCM1650 and it has better Opamps (whether it's my Burson's or the Muses - they both kill the opamps in the Onkyo). I wonder ....can someone (because I wont trust myself with it ) could roll the opamps in the Onkyo 807/RC180 receiver?!!!! Hmmmmm?!!!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
