Okay, when I first posted I was unaware of what Cinema Guild was (I'm sorry ) but after I had a chance to do some research it looks like Cinema Guild distributes independent films? Am I on the right track? If so, where is the best resource for me to look at your catalogue, and maybe get some recommendations for films to check out?

Thanks!

A good place to start would be here

http://www.cinemaguild.com/homevideo/collection.htm

Our first Blu-ray is the documentary MARWENCOL and we will follow that this August with the release of The Strange Case Of Angelica.

Thank you, maybe I just wasn't typing something right or yahoo was crappy or something because I SWEAR I did not see that website earlier when I checked. Thanks again, I'll be sure to check it out!

Moonraker,

I've already mentioned this in the Marwencol thread, but just to address it here as well, in case it comes up again with other Cinema Guild releases.

While I certainly appreciate the fact that a fine documentary like Marwencol is available on blu-ray, I'm a bit disappointed in the fact that it doesn't have any kind of captioning (SDH) or English subtitles.

I realize adding captions/subtitles is an additional expense, and that it must be a far bigger burden, financially, to a small distributor than it would be for a major studio.

However, I do wish future BD releases might incorporate this, for the benefit of hearing-impaired viewers and those of us who, for other reasons, occasionally or regularly make use of this feature.

Kudos again on the Marwencol release; aside from the captioning issue, it is a very good blu-ray.

Are all Cinema Guild blu-rays region free?

Currently I own "Marwencol" & "Leviathan". (both region free)

Blu-ray com lists "Museum Hours" as a region A blu-ray. Is this correct?

Well, there is nothing set in stone right now as extensive restoration work would need to take place, but never say never.

Default Cinema and Bluray

I was wondering why there's such a difference in seeing a movie at a Theater and watching the same movie at home on Blu-ray or 4K. I'm using the preset cinema mode on my Samsung 55 inch MU6300 4K TV. I like the warm dim earthy look I get in theaters but they seem to lack in detail to what I see on my Blu-rays. Why are the movies altered for Blu-ray I guess is my question. Thanks.

They’re not, you’re just seeing a difference between an image blown up far beyond the scale of the film’s (probably) 2K master at the theater and a much less over extended image at home that is closer in size to the native resolution.

Thanks. Yea I get that but have read Blu-rays get edited before they're put on market and colors are changed and tweaked. I saw Captain Marvel at a theater yesterday and noticed how dark it was and not much detail at all and I'm sure the Blu-ray won't be that way. I do like what I see in theaters though.

One of my favourite publishers.

1. Hong Sangsoo films (got On The Beach . . . )
2. Nuri Bilge Ceylan films (got Winter Sleep, … Anatolia)
3. Odd French films such as Death of Louis XIV.
4. Bela Tarr films (got Turin Horse)

Is Ceylan's The Wild Pear Tree NA Blu-ray release getting held back due to continued screenings? I see screenings booked to June 30th . . .
