We are releasing THE ISLAND... not the Michael Bay film
![]() I'd love to release the PSYCHO films, but I have a feeling Universal is going to hold on to those...and probably Chucky. Quote:

I have a some questions for Cliff:
1. Why is it that when past releases from Rhino are re-released under your label, some of the Rhino extras aren't ported over? Rights issues possibly? If and should you plan to release a new edition of Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes, make sure the Rhino extras are ported over. 2. Is it possible for you to aquire Bad Taste and/or Meet The Feebles (the latter should be released under Shout! and not Scream since it's not really a horror film)? 3. Some TV spots for Halloween II and III are on Youtube. Will those be included in the new releases? 4. For DVD, are DTS tracks for films under the Scream label (Halloween III, Phantasm II) a possibility? I also have some questions for the Phantasm II CE, but I'll ask you those another time. ![]() |

Any chance for Blus of any of these misfits, a few of them being OOP Anchor Bays?
I'd also flip if someone finally got the entire Spectreman series out on DVD. |

Any chance of acquiring any of these titles for Blu-Ray release?
Madman - from the master that AB used with the blue tints for night shots. Just Before Dawn - The Shriek Show DVD was nice but cut. The Final Terror - No worthwhile DVD releases |

Cmac, when can we expect to hear an anouncement on the second wave of titles being released by Scream Factory?

I'm assuming it didn't sell well on DVD, so I feel I already know the answer, but I'm going to ask anyway.
Any chance of the complete series of "The Middleman" on Blu-ray? I own the DVD set, and recently watched a couple of episodes in HD on a DVR of mine, and was lamenting the lack of not owning this show in HD (iTunes is even SD). ![]() ~Alan |

Hi Cliff,
Thank you for taking the time to address the forum! My question is a quick one. Have these come up on the radar for a possible blu-ray release? The Steve Martin classic comedies - The Jerk / My Blue Heaven / The Man With Two Brains I know that there are HD versions of My Blue Heaven and The Man With Two Brains available as they were HD streams on Netflix and Amazon. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! It seems that Universal has no intention of releasing these one on blu-ray. All my best, George p.s. - When you do release movies please include subtitles. I can't tell you the amount of movies that I cannot purchase because subtitles are not included.... Last edited by hedliniv; 06-18-2012 at 08:05 PM. |

Any possibility of "Darkman"? Universal has never seemed interested in a special edition and I know there are deleted scenes out there. I'm sure Bruce Campbell would offer some behind the scenes stories as he did more than just the cameo at the end.

I'd love to see (1986) Rad also, wore out my VHS copy back in my bmx days. Best we got now is a HDTV rip that someone converted to a bootleg DVD floating around web. So try try again, please!
Also, (1989) Sonny Boy with David Carradine and Brad Dourif; and Ken Russel's (1971) The Devils would be excellent US releases if you could get them. |

I am in no way associated with Shout Factory, but I'm seeing a lot of rights questions. I can probably answer a few of them for you.
Dead End Drive-In is currently being licensed to Image (along with many other former Anchor Bay titles). In fact, they just released it on DVD last fall, so I doubt they will be parting with it anytime soon. Madman is probably still owned by Code Red. Even though the DVD is out of print, I doubt the rights have expired yet. Actually, I remember reading that several other companies passed on Madman prior to Code Red getting it, due to some of the demands of the producer who held the rights. As for public domain titles like Night Of The Living Dead, Dementia 13, and Little Shop Of Horrors, it really wouldn't be of benefit for Shout Factory to release them. In fact, most larger companies won't bother with them at all. There are just too many cheap bargain bin releases out there to undermine the profits. I can't comment on the quality, but there are actually region A blu-ray releases of all three of those public domain movies already available. So there would even be competition in the hi-def format. I believe Shout Factory has previously mentioned on the forums that they would be keeping their future titles in the dark until they are ready to announce them. So even if you guys do mention a specific title they've got in the pipeline, he probably wouldn't admit to it just yet. ![]() I do have another question for Cliff though. Did the Universal deal include any non-horror titles as well? I'm loving all the horror announcements so far, but I'm just curious. |

I'm really looking forward to these releases, Cliff.
I have most of the Shout Factory Corman BDs and the quality of the transfers and the overall packages are excellent. Companies prepared to add something special to their releases are a dying breed, so kudos to you for that. The only complaint I've heard in regards to the Shout Factory BDs is the fact that they're region locked. I'm guessing that this is no fault of your own, and most probably due to the licensing deal, but will you be able to target a wider market with these Scream Factory releases, or will they all be region locked also? Irrelevant of that, I'm very much looking forward to seeing what else Scream Factory has in store for the future; the criminally under-rated Prince of Darkness would be a great addition on the back of They Live, plus if you ever manage to get the rights to release Andrzej Zulawski's Possession on BD, I'll be first in the pre-order queue! ![]() |

I'm completely region free, but I know many people who aren't, and would love to own some of these titles. It's just a shame that licensors force these region restrictions on distributors. |

I just want to say thanks for answering all our questions, cmac.
As for mine; What are your thoughts on the upcoming Power Rangers sets? (the restoration, the bonus materials) and is the pilot (with Audrey DuBois) included? (during Lost Galaxy it was aired as a special with Austin St. John and Walter Jones). What happened with Medabots and Dinosaur King? With Medabots in particular I was looking forward to the other sets, and from what I found on Shout's forums, low sales killed them, is that true? Were they finished but not released? What about MOD? Thanks so much! |
