They have a very simlar sound signature to the KRk, and perhaps because of the soft dome tweeter (huge fan). They only had the top of the line ribbon available, so I didn't even audition them. Plus I was in a hurry to get home before todays football matches.

Going to listen a little now before the next match at 2:45, and I'll report back on what I think.

Those are nice, looking forward to your impressions. Behringer makes an honest monitor and hard to beat for the price.

Have had about a half hour on them...not bad at all. Need to work with the trim levels a bit and play around with the +/- dB options for LF/HF.

Had to do a win7 re-install on my main pc and got my E-Mu to work on it this time, drivers are a bit iffy and needed a lot of tweaking but it works. Yes sir! Took a while to setup but was worth it

Great news Pat!

Been playing with my new speakers and toe'd them in to get a true near-field listening experience. I've got the LFE set at 80HZ for now with the speakers at LARGE. The Trim levels are still at ZERO, but I don't know what that means. What are trim levels?

Nice! I'm happy you could find a compromise that suits you. Even though Berhinger had a iffy rep for QC, with time that has changed and it's surprising how many pros use some of their stuff.

From memory, trim level affects input volume on the monitors. I've rarely used them on monitors but always on consoles. You should adjust it to have perfect input levels if your source is weak or the opposite, strong. But for a source like MM it should be fine at 0.

For some odd reason MediaMonkey won't recognize any of the ASIO drivers I installed, so I downloaded MusicBee (thanks wilky) and voila....success!. So for playback I'll be using MusicBee. For ripping and burning I'll continue to use MediaMonkey as it's been solid in that regard.

Weird, must've been a plugin issue. Glad MusicBee works for ya; I like its interface a lot.

You guys don't like Exact Audio Copy for ripping?

Don't need it...MM does it all......used EAC years ago though...

So that's why I'm wary to switch to MM for my ripping, for fear of messing up settings.

Good instructions, but it all it does is tell you how to install the program. What are the benefits? A program like MM or JRM will do the same on the fly.

Did you see all seven parts? EAC has like twenty different menus in the setup/preferences...

I didn't read all seven parts, no. And quite frankly I'm not interested in reading all them either. MM and JRM give me all the tools I need to properly convert files into .flac, and I've had no issues. Maybe if I was fully dedicated to digital I'd do the research, but I'm not.

I might have to give EAC a try, just for the heck of comparing, but like John MediaMonkey does a good job at that, fast, reliable. I wonder what kind of difference (if any) could be found by using 2 different programs to rip to flac.

I don't know; there are probably a couple main settings (like the level of FLAC you encode to, 1-8) that make most of the difference. After all, not all FLACs are equal just like not all MP3s are equal.

MM will allow one to adjust the level of compression used and also 3 other options related to jitter. I use a compression level of 3 and a secure read setting. I think that JRM has even more options.

Yeap that's what it is , basically the trim level is to raise the volume if you feel the source is week or like in receivers after calibration if you found the sound to be week we can go to the program and raise the level's of individual speaker .

Hmm, compression level of 3... what is an example of the bitrate of one/several of your .FLAC albums that you have ripped from CD source? I checked my most recent batch (four albums), and the tracks are generally between about 775 and 900 kbs (level 8 compression)
